I have yet to get an updating message, that I have noticed, but I dont drive the car very much. And I havent had any antenna errors/messages either. Sorry to hear about your problem, hope it gets resolved soon! Good luck!

For those of you who have Sirius XM, can you please tell me how many times you see the message, updating channels, on the radio/nav display.
I get that message every time I start the car, VW is trying to tell me that its Sirius that I have to deal with. I highly doubt they update the channels that often. I did contact Sirius, and they said I shouldn't be getting that message every time.
I also get an antenna error has occurred message, this one has been an on going issue with VW. They have swap the radio/nav unit twice, re-ran a new antenna wire, message still occurs.
Thanks for any info..

I haven't seen that updating message. Might be the antenna issue causing that message.

I usually see the message "Updating subscription" on Monday mornings first thing when backing out of my garage.

Do both of you have garages? Our Tiguan 09 parks outside. If you all use garages, it may be when it is out of signal to the sat and happens because you are coming back outside.

Sometimes I get the message every time I start the vehicle.
Sometimes I won't get it for weeks at a time.
I get antenna messages, and another message, can't remember what it is at the moment (haven't been in the Tiguan for a few days).
I never bothered having it looked at because I know they just come back again. I reset the head unit occasionally and that seems to fix the problem. I also manually updated the firmware awhile ago, which seemed to cause a few of the problems.

I actually saw this - 'subscription updated . . . message' early this morning, then I press on the 'OK' button on the screen and it disappeared.

Yeah, odd. I've heard that upgrading the firmware sometimes solves these problems but I'm not sure.
I remembered (now that I have my Tiguan back) what my other message is:
"GCI Update Occurred"
Happened this morning. And again this afternoon. And I'm sure it will do it again today when I leave work, or, hey, maybe not.

On my 2010 Golf my RNS-510 shows "Updating Channels" pretty much every time I start the car and "GCU Update Occurred" about every two or three days. I thought it was because I had changed Sirius packages as it started a few days after that.

I have yet to be able to even activate mine. After several calls to Sirius I still wasnt able to get my "code" for them. It only says "updating...please call......"
Only had the Tig for a week so I really haven't wanted to bring it back to the dealer for a fix.

Seeing if anyone had any resolution to this issue. I've updated my firmware on my RNS over a year or so ago to SW1140 with no issues - until last week.
Started seeing the 'updating channels' message almost every time I start the car. Some times the artist and title is blank or it will display the correct information until the next track and it doesn't update until I press the channel button.
Also received the 'GCI update' and 'Antenna Error' messages. Not as much as the updating channels though...
The only thing different is daylight savings happened at the same time period. But, I don't think that should cause a problem - grabbing at straws, this doesn't make any sense why this is happening.
Doesn't seem to effect anything, just annoying.

YES, I hate this, been going on for several months now. I get the antenna error, gci update, and updating channels on a daily basis. Takes longer for the radio to get up and going when the antenna error happens but other than that it still works fine.
I have searched all over for a solution and no luck. Tried one thread's recommendation of re-updating my radios firmware, but that didn't fix it.
Mine started within a month of me changing my subscription.
I've been meaning to try and see if I can call sirius and get them to try re-updating my channel subscription from the satellite and see if that fixes it. Just keep forgetting to call them when I'm in the car for a good drive.

Here is the thread I found on it at another forum:

Again I tried just re-applying the 1140 update, didn't have the older one around, and it did NOT solve the problem for me.
