Just bought my first Mk3 B4 1995 passat
    vr6
but im looking for coilovers and i live in ohio so it snows and the roads get salt on them from the ice and stuff, so what coilovers would withstand our ohio winters? anyone know?
i was going to get raceland ultimos, would those work?
and i will put up pictures of my car later

welcome to the addiction! lol, i would think any coilover would work but you probably want to make sure the sleeves stay oiled or greased and from time to time just check on them. the salt will def do some damage but, once you put a coat of oil or some protectant on you should be fine. just make sure you wash that salt out constantly. other than that there isnt much you can do, but man i would undercoat the car if i were you.

Thanks i just had a mk4 golf 2.slo so im pumped about this vr6

ya, i didnt think to do that, my golf had undercoat. that protects from rust right? and how much does that cost because i only have 1800 to work with. im getting the car repainted in some spots because of rust, so im getting that touched up. im sort of on a tight budget lol

sorry bud but from personal experience vr6's and "tight budgets" don't go well together. eventually you'll finding yourself driving like a grandma and staring at the MPGs hoping they'll go up. lmao

protect your suspension as much as you can, but the salt is still going to do what it does best. also consider that when you want to adjust to go higher or lower, you're gonna get messy

a B4 cannot be a mk3 lol. i have the standard raceland coils in my b3 wagon and i love the ride. the ultimos are supposed to be a little beefier and for the extra $30 cost id go for them. just order a kit for either mk2 golf/jetta, mk3 golf/jetta or corrado. you will however need the rear lower shock bolts and nuts from a mk2, mk3 or corrado since the passat bolt is a bit larger. id also recommend replacing the strut mounts and bearings. i poersonally coat the sh!t out of my threads with wheel bearing grease. when u need to adjust them again just blow the grease off with an air compressor or wipe it off w paper towels. after 3 ny winters with salt my coils can still be easliy adjusted enjoy your new ride

Soooo... I wanna get a roof rack for my bike for this car. Does anyone know of a rack system that will work with this that they have on their own and how much you paid for it?
    Thanks!

It's rebuilt with parts from a newer modeled vr6, maybe not those years, but it's not the original motor.

or so someone says... 90-02 longblocks are all the same iirc. There were some minor variations, but nothing that couldn't be worked around easily. You could have a motor older than your car in there, unless you've already verified the serial # and haven't disclosed it.

Ok so I don't know exactly about the motor, but oh well. I'm facing another problem.
When I go to lock my doors with my key, I turn it and we all know the noise it makes when the doors and trunk and stuff lock, right?
Well if you know what sound I'm taking about, you'll know that that sound normally goes away after about 10-15 seconds. Well ever since yesterday morning, mine has stayed making that sound for at least 2 minutes, it eventualy shuts off, But i dont think it can't be good. So any input or any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

The sound you hear when you lock the door is a vacuum pump. Sounds like you got a leak somewhere. The pump is in the trunk left side under the carpeting under were the hazard triangle should go. Not were the spare is. It's in a foam casing. Follow you lines if you can't hear were the leak is. From what I read on here common areas are by the doors in the black rubber boot by the hinges. If you can't find it you can always unplug the pump and have manual lock.

Okay! Well I can hear it, it's right next to my drivers seat! So what do I do when I've found the leak?

Replace the line, or buy a barbed connector and cut the split out.

Until you can do that try sealing the leak for now with something you have laying around so you don't Burma the pump out. You can also unplug it form now just do something if it is going to take a bit for you to fix it. Unless your just not going to drive it or be locking and unlocking it.

Yea do it right a temp fix I just that. I know there are some on here. Which one do want? The whole line or the barrel splice. Were the splice will need to be make sure the barrel connection will not cause issues when putting the trim back.

Okay... Got a problem guys! My car is misfiring and sputting really bad. I've replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, and fuel filter. Not sure what could be causing it, but none of the things I've done have fixed it. Any ideas of what it could be?
I'm thinkin a bad catilaytic converter or a fuel pump.. I don't know though, any ideas???
