We just got a VW dealership in Duluth ~3 weeks ago.
I do all my own maintenance and repairs. Even own the very cool and capable VCDS (Vag-Com) computer program and interface.
Well I needed another key for my Jetta and balked at spending the bucks for VW to do it all, something very near $300 for the flip key remote, chip programming and remote programming.
I bought a new, uncut flip key/remote off of eBay for $28 and had it cut at a local locksmith for $50 but since I didn't have my key tag for the SKC (secret key code) I couldn't use VCDS to program the RFID chip in it.
Damn!
I made an appointment to get this done at the dealership, the service manager told me $80. I went there today to get it done and they did it in 20 minutes.
The manager hands me my now working key and I begin to walk to the counter to pay my $80.
The manager say, "It's too nice of a day to charge you for this" and shakes my hand.
I was astonished and pleased!
Thank you VW of Duluth!
