Just picked up a Passat SE TDI DSG. Looking forward to a 1500+ mile roadtrip in 2 weeks, I should need way less than 2 tanks of fuel...right?

Excuse the cell phone pic, real pics coming soon...

    *edit*

More pics added. The color looks much lighter in the sunset light. I'm not too happy with the pics though (just the kit lens on my 7D). I might have to take some more pics with a different lens in better light.

Looks great. Let us know what kind of mileage you're getting with this thing. Are these available in the same brown the Jettas are? Love that color.

It sucks. I have to stare at these abominations everyday, as the VW dealer is nearly across the street from me.

Or, at least that's what I keep telling myself to try to stop from wanting one. Really though, the styling is so classy and that color is just right.

I can't wait for some of your "real" pics. Enjoy the ride, and give us a review when you get the chance.

The title of this thread led me to believe that Toyota was going to begin building Prius in the US.

    Color is on point.

I HATE those super low chrome rubstrips on this gen Passat though..
They look like awkwardly placed cheap aftermarket trim.

With your lead foot, you are probably going to be lucky to see 45mpg highway... but they will be purty miles!

Bummer. My last two TDI's were completely problem free for the 60k miles I drove them, I don't expect any issues with this one.

It does take a few miles before you'll notice the best mileage. My JSW has really improved now that I'm over 5000 miles. I'm hoping for better yet. 49 mpg on the 25 mile trip into work.

Our 2010 TDI had a phantom CEL that logged no code. The second time we took it in they had to consult some big(ger) wigs and they decided somehow to replace two of my four injectors even though they were in spec they weren't as "in spec" as the other two.

Fixed the problem, but they said that sometimes switching brands of diesel can cause weird issues (which is just horse-shart) .. which coincidentally we had filled up previous to the CEL out of town the first time it happened, back to our "regular" diesel second time...

If it's gonna be that finicky I don't want it, so we ditched it at 42k (ish)

    beautiful colour, great looking Passat.

Passats always hold a special place in my heart ... a white 95 GLX was my introduction to VW, and I'm still driving the stupid cars

Do you have pictures of the interior?

Over in the B7 forums, it looks like most owners love their cars and only few issues discussed.

I really like that color. The new Passat is a great looking car. If I were in the market for a midsizer, that's the one I'd get. Just as you've optioned it too.
I too have a disdain for the rub strips, but that is easily overlooked.

    Great car!

I like the new passats. They are like a far more attractive version of the new Jetta. FAR more attractive.

My only thought: This car is available in manual. It's one of the only turbo-diesel sadans available in manual. Why did you not get a manual?

    Otherwise

Exhaust on the front wtf? Is this completely not related to previous TDIs? OR was this a new design for a while? And what is that container on the left?

Also, double on the chrome strip. Is it missing on the lower levels? it looks so tacked on the bumper.

Car looks great in that red. I'm not sure I've seen one in that color. The Passat seems like VWoA really got it right. I hope the success of this thing leads to VW bringing the Scirocco over here.
