WOW i guess im lucky that in the past 3 years i havent stayed at the helendorf. But this year town was kinda quite and only action was at the Helendorf because last year the whole town was a mess... as far as the tits thing im with most people here but u cant hate %90 of VW owners.... id rather be drunk and partying with cars then be like freaking Honda kids trying to race and put bunch on lives in danger.... and highwaystar garage guys dont even own euros. Yeah manny drinks a lot but we all do. And hell no helen will almost never shoot this event down.... because its got nothing compared to the mess thats done there on OKTOBERFEST.

edit: beyond that, the Helendorf parking lot party experience is an integral part of SoWo. And sure it's loud and rowdy, but if everyone in the hotel is okay with it, and nobody is getting hurt, why not? (that said, throw trash cans out there) I think that's gotta continue, right? Maybe put up some sort of barrier and keep cars from leaving after 10 or 11pm or something?
    exactly what i was thinking.

I always stay outside of town and walk into town so that my car stays away from the madness. One night of partying is not worth a huge dent or a scratch on the car.

I showed up late in a bunny costume and my friend in the banana outfit and we were with another friend, his gf and my gf. Those guys asked our gf's and I was not really bothered by it that much just bc I know my gf is too classy to ever pull a stunt like that. They didn't touch her or disrespect her so I had no reason to fight...Although I must say I thought it would have been pretty funny if a dude in a bunny suit started ****

Close the roads between Alpine Village Inn and the Helendorf (maybe loosen up the open container laws?) and people can still get their cars if needed, but it also makes it so people can't cruise on that back road. But that would be fine, really- that road ought to be shut down during the show anyways.

SoWo isn't going anywhere. Helen has no interest in turning away hundreds of thousands of dollars in business. Worst that happens is they rent some cops from Atlanta.

On top of the fact, as it seemed to me, every business loved us. All i heard from the people at the rest., lq store, gas stations, and the like is that we were all nice and courteous and loved having us there.

My one gripe and glad i didnt have a car or stay at the helendorf was the smashing of bottles and throwing a tube on cars. Have some ****ing respect people.

I think the Helendorf, like the convention center during H2Oi, is just a center point for all the craziness of the weekend so everything that goes down makes the entire event seem a lot crazier than it really is.

Why did people have to keep driving through the parking lot? If you have any idea what goes down there you either park your car and leave it or park somewhere else.. driving through or parking up front pretty much guarantees your going to have people, beer or both on your car at some point during the night. I would never park my car in the upper lot there.

Not sure if they did it in the past but they somewhat limited the number of cars in the helendorf by only allowing "residents" to park.

Although i got to park there no problem, i had some friends say they were turned away if they didnt have a parking pass.

In years past anyone could just go in and park, the crowd, cars and party seemed smaller at the helendorf this year. Looks like its more spread out and people just party where they are staying instead of going to the helendorf to do so.

We were at a cabin about 4 miles out and it was nice to get away.

This is good news. There's a big difference between having a good time and making an ass of oneself, and having people in place to boot the asses can only be seen as positive AS LONG AS THEY DON'T BECOME TOO INVOLVED. Their job should be to prevent mayhem, but not a fun and somewhat wild evening

Glad I stayed in a cabin in the gated community. myself and 20 other people in our cabin stocked up on beer and alcohol and had our own personal DJ and partied all night without any problems from neighbors or security. Will be staying there again next year for sure.

Nope wasn't me. I don't even remember what led up to me getting arrested I just remember me being pissed off and arguing with the cop the rest of the night. Most likely flying to Atlanta and renting a car to drive to Helen.
