I can't stop giggling at it...I can't help it and I don't mean it as insulting...it is just so little.

Last November, some guy was texting, ran a red light and totalled my old mini
This past friday, I filled the void.. Sure, my s2000 is fine for daily-duty, but nothing is the same as driving one of these...
'68 Austin Pickup. 848cc of fury! hasnt been driven in a while, I was able to get it started, take it out for a few trips around the shop, then a wire came loose and it diedsuch is life. Ill get her going again this week.
It will be my new daily after some TLC. Paint work, tires, tune up, etc.
Pictures from craigslist...
Taking her home...
In her home temporarily...
10x3.5" wheels! 145/80-10
and some vids before the wire came un-done...
enjoy!

Part of me loves this so much.
Then the other part hates the fact that I will never fit inside of one of these things.

How does a rotary work? This one's easy: the magic triangle spins in the peanut and then apex seals come out.

It's really cool and a great conversation starter, but I'm too aware of my own mortality to drive something like that daily.

The picture of it in the trailer is my favorite.

Love it! but BLARRRGH. I hate driving right-hand drive cars. The car rolling the 'wrong way' during cornering always makes me nauseous.
#22
Wow, even the trailer looks cool.
"What's that loud, boring sound you'll hear when I stop talking?"
"It's an albino humping worm!"
"Why do they call it that?"
"Because it doesn't have any pigment."

turn it into the worlds smallest brodozer? Might be tricky to keep the tires from rubbing... each other.

Good for you man!
Austin as in Austin Healey right? I just saw a Bugeye Sprite the other day from behind and the driver was taking up 75% of the cabin volume.

Austin as in Austin Motor. One of the variety of works that built Minis over the years.
Austin Motor did supply 4- and 6-cylinder engines to Donald Healey for incorporation into Austin Healeys.![]()

LeMans style Spitfire fastback/ GT6?
Nice pickup. Is it factory or did someone chop up a Traveller?
For those joking about the size, youve probably never been in one. If you had, you would realize that the Mini was a miracle of packaging. There is a LOT of room inside. Issigonis was a true master. People talk about go kart handling cars. This is the originator.
Where in Philly? Theres a pretty devout Brit car following up there.
You think you hate it now. Wait til you drive it.

Nice find Matt. I didn't know that you lost the mini. That Smart photo is incredible. I guess that I never realized how small the original Mini's are.

very nice and very cool. Glad you made it out of your accident ok.

Thanks John, losing the old one SUCKED as I just spent too much time making it more comfortable, about 40+ hrs the 2 weeks leading up to it. new suspension and sound deadening, as well as a few other things.
I'm sure pete will chime in, but I think they're from a Kawasaki mule.
Car is in west chester, but within a month the car will be back with me in Manayunk and the surrounding area.
Factory pickup And yes, they are HUGE inside. I could easily fit 5 people in my old one. 2 front, 3 girls in the back. they'd prefer taking that than a normal car. I also had 2 brothers who were 6'3" and 6'4" fit in the front seats. I didnt lower the seats or move the driving position back, but they would def fit it the pickup.
With stock seats, width is not a problem. The cobra seats in my old mini....width is an issue.
