I have a 99 Passat B5 1.9 Tdi
It is a fantanstic car and does all I need in life including pulling massive loads with the trailer and beeing mega ecconmical.
I have this weekend started working on a project that will be on for sometime that means everyday I have to go up a very rutted track with the passat and some times the trailer on. I have been up a few times this weekend just in the car and the undertray and front bumper catches etc. This is the lane to get a idea.
What I am planing on doing is to lift the passat on the suspension and tyres . I have thtyres aready which lift it by 1 inch but looking to lift the suspension 1 inch. Any help or ideas on this would be a great help.
Cheers

Eg a range rover?
I cant afford to run a range rover.
My passat is a fantastic car and am going to be keeping it until it dies. It is my work horse just needs a tweek to help me more on the rough stuff.
Thanks anyway

You could try to find taller springs. I believe there was a "rough road" suspension option that used taller springs to lift the car a bit. Some research would get you the part numbers.
You could get adjustable coil-overs and set them to raise the car a bit.
In the 4x4 truck world, a common modification is to add a spacer under the spring to raise the vehicle a bit. They probably don't make them specifically for this car so you'd need to fabricate your own or modify an existing product to fit properly.
Don't drive that road with your tires centered in the ruts. Drive off to one side so the tires aren't tracking down the lowest part of the lane.

How An Engine Works... Exhaust gases go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens, sign posts fly by at light speed, the girl in your passenger seat screams!

There is a option for rough road suspension but it very costly. Taller springs is the way forward. Does anyone know if 4motion or v6 springs will be a heavier rating stopping it drop as much. Does anyone know if wagon springs are the same diameter as saloon if so they would be longer possible.
You can get a spacer kit for mk4 golf but I have contacted them and they don't have a passat version.
Was thinking some sort of machined spacer on top of the strut mount at the front I between the top mount and the inner wing would work and the the same in the rear. The bigger tyres are going to lift by 1 inch or so.
Any help is welcome
Thanks

Bilstien HD struts is the only idea I have. Could also get coilovers and crank them up to raise the car.

use hockey pucks to make your own coil spring spacer....not sure if their wide enough but pucks are crazy strong.
Check out amazon...look for a "donut style coil spring spacer"or "spring height spacer"...you'll have to get an approximate diameter size but that may be just what your looking for....they come in a couple sizes like 1/2" to 2" height increase.

You are looking for Volkswagen's 1BB Suspension aka the bad-roads suspension (slightly raised). Stock VW suspension is called 1BA, while the Sport Suspension is called 1BE (slightly lowered).
Since you are in Europe, the 1BB suspension components should be easy to procure. Check with your local VW Dealership Parts Department for a listing of the shocks, springs, and control arms components needed for this setup. Do a search on PassatWorld.com or Vortex for 1BB suspension, someone may have listed the part numbers needed for B5 Passats.
Good luck, and I hope this helps,

Have looked at the rough road suspension before and priced it up with the local dealer is used to work for and it is so expensive and on back order. If i remember right the font springs were £80 each for start.
Was thinking about towing air bags at the rear. Does anyone know or have any info on any? Can find any supplier in the uk for them
