For that much money, I would rather buy some land and build my own race track.

yeah parking spots are going up, plenty of spots in boston going for 100-250k, there are plenty for less, but not where you want your parking spot to be!

For $1 million, it ought to come with a pair of burly men named Hans and Franz who guard it in shifts 24/7.

I'm doubtful the $1M parking spot has the kind of security measures most 250 GTO owners demand. All you're paying for is location and access, not extremely high-value physical security.

Knowing NYC it is probably going to a beat up Lexus with taxi scars and door dings on all 4 corners.

    Eight story luxury condo....

No wonder they have to charge so much. Not really a money making type of building is it. Why not build a 30 story luxury condo and slightly lower the price per suite... build further down, have many more $500k parking spots etc.

    Depending on the year.
The one pictured is an earlier model worth between $1-1.9 million, depending on year and mileage.

    Sounds about right.

People ask me why I don't want to live in a city, and that is one of many reasons why. (Well, not that it runs $1M, but the complete lack of)

The idea isn't to make many inexpensive units - it's about making the biggest, most outlandish condos you can. The developer paid $120 million for the building in order to convert it into 8 large, expensive units. Remember, the 1% never stopped spending.

IIRC, Seinfeld bought a building to park his cars in NYC.

I would assume that someone buying one of these spots would have already bought the vehicle they wish to park in the spot...
And you stated worth and not cost.

Not really that expensive when you consider that the penthouse is $38MM.

Plus, it has direct street access from the space. That's RARE in Manhattan. You can't have your own curb cut there and expect it to be reasonable.

I want to see where that spot is, like what it looks like and who parks next to you. Also, imaging buying the spot but not living in the building. Would you rent it out?

Nobody parks next to you. It's literally one space.

Having lived in Manhattan before, I know what a chore parking can be. Also knowing that any luxury condo i that particular neighborhood will be well north of a million (probably well north of several million) I wasn't too surprised.... then I read this:

Just did a Google Street View and its located next door to an Avis rental place. Doesn't seem like a very ritzy, $1.0M parking spot neighborhood.
