So long story short, I pull up to the bank, my buddy asks to drive, say sure, tries to start in reverse. We hear a loud pop, whole car turns off. We get a jump, and the whole time we're driving down the road there's a loud knock in the front left side of the engine compartment. What's going on!?!

    Please help!

Wait, you started the car in Reverse?

Did your buddy clutch when starting the car??

Loud knocking on the front left side where the battery is or where the air filter is?

Give us some more details, anything! Make the story juicy!

Wow, well idk why you would let him drive if he doesn't understand the fuction of a clutch when starting a car in gear...

I would lift the car up and check out the transmission. One, to check on the gears. And two, to see if you can't find anything loose.

check your starter, could have damaged it, and you can get it started by pushing it and letting the clutch out? and does the clutch function after car is started?

Is the knocking only when you are moving, or even sitting still? what about neutral?
