Saw this live on the local news last night. LAPD tried to stop this guy but of course he decided to run. Except his driving skills was no match for the car he was driving. Several times during the chase, he tried to power through tight turns and just end up doing donuts instead. As the chase unfolded, I could tell that this idiot had never driven a RWD car before and doesn't know the difference. He ended up crashing into several cars after spinning out of control before plowing head on into a LAPD Crown Vic (after another unsuccessful attempt at turning).

It's a miracle no one was killed.

I think the car he was driving was a donked Dodge Charger... not completely sure. TCL detectives please confirm

I like how the helicopter shot zoomed back out when the cops started pounding on the guy! Of course, he deserved it...

Looks like he either had flat tires or was driving on wheels.

According to the reporter: They were restraining him until he could be subdued enough to put handcuffs on.

I dunno, watching the video doesn't really look like the gave him the opportunity to submit to being cuffed. You can plainly see the one cop throw a fist into his back/kidney area. Not to say he didn't deserve it, but I hate when cops scream "stop resisting" while they pummel people. Just say what's on your mind "You sonvabitch, take that!"

You could almost hear the "snerk" when the reporter was saying that.

When the first officer approached him, he put his arms up, but tried to side-step him and ran past him. The second officer caught his shoulder and pulled him around. He was still flailing at that point, and therefore "resisting."

If it were a street gang chasing him, I might call it self-defense. But when it's a dozen police officers and he's not stopping, it's definitely resisting.

Though I've often thought it best in situations like this, for the point pursuit person to specifically NOT be the first one to apprehend, simply because that officer's adrenaline could out-weigh his logic/reason. Of course, that isn't always an option...

lol if that's what you call punching someone on the ground with 4 other people on top of him. Oh well, he deserved it.

I completely agree. Lots of studies agree as well. Adrenaline and testosterone are hard to rein back in once the tiger's out of the cage.

Yet you're not a fan out of a kid getting beat for also recklessly driving and actually hurting people.

You think I'm going to run from a bunch of taz happy crew-cuts? No way, I lay directly on the pavement spread eagle when I see a cop even look my way.

They are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

That kid wasn't trying to hurt people. There was no moral right to his getting beat.

These people are committing crimes and trying to flee, purposefully putting others in harm for their own selfish reasons - speeding through residential areas, ramming vehicles, driving the wrong way, etc...

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we should encourage abuse of the law - but it feels good to watch someone get their come uppin's.

I can't say I feel bad for this dude, but what's the purpose of going straight to punches? You can't handcuff and punch the same person at the same time. I understand the whole adrenaline thing, but if dude is reaching for a gun or knife, I think securing his hands would be the smartest thing to do right

Of course I do. After they steal the picknick baskets they head back to their friend rabbit's house. But they get stuck half way in because they've been eating too much honey. That's when the park rangers come along...
