the engine is a 2.0 16v. when we start the car it has to sit for a good 2-3 minutes before you can drive it. the car idles really rough and when you give it some gas nothing really happens. if you try to move it the engine bogs down and comes close to shutting off. the engine will idle around 800-900 rpm then brings itself up to around 1200-1300 rpm. itll after a couple minutes calm down and runs perfect. ive replaced the cold start valve and isv. can anyone help me with the issue. ive searched and came up with absolutely nothing.

ill try that and run some injector cleaner through it again. we've put fuel from a couple different stations and it hasnt changed anything. i do have all new lines with injectors for it. probably wouldnt hurt to just swap those out.

I wouldnt hurt a fly. Unless it kept buzzing around in my face, and annoying me.

she's been running 87 in it since she got the car. it just started recently though. it does have a knock sensor. ill try replacing that. im pretty sure theres a spare in my garage.

we ran some higher grade gas through it and some injector cleaner. the problem seems to be more intermittent now than all the time. im still going to try a new knock sensor anyways. she has a set of new fuel lines and injectors that im going to put in at some point. im sure it wouldnt hurt to swap out those too.

I would check your Distributor cap and rotor, I have the same car and had problems like this for awhile, I tried everything all to find out that it was a bad cap and rotor and it was causing it to run really rough and it would bog out when I gave it gas, Also check to make sure there are no vacuum leaks, if the system has a leak the pressure plate that's above your air filter will struggle to lift open and close causing the car to fall on it's face and run like crap etc...

i took a look at the cap and rotor. i had a strong feeling it wasnt that since i just replaced it. those were both perfect. turns out a knock sensor is split in half. so by the looks of it ive found the issue. it will be replaced today or tomorrow and ill report back with the answer.

Before you do anything else Change the fuel filter
Sounds like you have junk in it, and check for vaccuum leaks

FYI my knock is split on the cover too, and it doesn't really affect it
Cheap gas and ethanol can add a lot of water to your fuel filter (when ethanol Evaps it leaves more water)
Use some berrymans b-12 that **** is really good

i replaced the knock sensor yesterday with a spare i had laying around. and the knock box, also a spare i had. after doing both of those and messing with the distributor timing a tiny bit it runs a lot better. im going to do the fuel filter this week since we have no idea when it was last done. the car did sit for a while so im sure there a bunch of build up in the filter.

A month ago I went up and down a few mountains and got stranded at the top of another, the fuel pump got clogged, the car ran like **** and hesitated and barely idled and eventually died
I got out and checked everything I could
After a lot of frustration I whacked the **** out of my fuel filter, and the engine ran longer.
I went to a nearby parts store and grabbed some wrenches (I always carry a spare fuel filter-I've had 5 cis injection cars)
Changed it out and been driving good ever since
