got board on my way home and decided to try n get a good launch in as i had never done one before...
launch was good. 5k. shift to 2nd and kaput... was like i missed 2nd.. WTF? car stalls.
start it back up and start to move. get to ~1700 RPM and car seems to bog down... give it more gas to see if it pulls through and it does. minus the boost response. like the car was struggling. Sounded like the motor was struggling or wasnt getting enough air. thought my intake could have fallen off. (simple cone filter on stock intake hose.)
pulled over and it was fine.
limped home and scanned CEL only one code. "SAI - incorrect flow." cleaned the small filter i had on SAI system. no CEL. (no Vag Com. only Snap On code reader.)
tried to start car again about 10 min after i cleared code.
starts no problem. has VERY rough idle for about 10 seconds. peaks at 1000rpm and slowly drops to a stall and car kills...
if i feather throttle car will stay running kinda rough, wanting to stall.

timing belt and both accessory belts + water pump changed at 104.5k mi
    cars currently at 105.3k mi
    AWM engine
only mod to engine is intake box replaced with cone filter + custom shields.
dont know when last tune up was done. gonna check all coils tomorrow afternoon.
    any insight?
    gutted cat.

What Snap-On scanner are you using? What software?

Check for vacuum/boost leaks first. Check the MAF.

    woot! i found the problem!

cant believe i missed it last night, but it could have been from lack of light.
the intake hose at the throttle body popped off. must not have tightened it enough after my timing belt change.

    thanks for the help guys.

and as far as the scanner, i was wrong. its a Mac tools code reader. just like this one http://www.mactools.com/shoponline/p...de-reader.aspx
