Thread: Rough idle when starting

  1. 05-24-2012 05:03 PM #1
Hey guys, when I start up my 06 GLI when the engine is cold, it idles pretty rough, but after about only a minute when I put it in gear it's fine. Even when I reach the stop light half a mile from my house, it idles fine. There isn't a hiccup either while driving. I recently changed the plugs and I've read it may be the fuel filter, and I haven't changed it in its 95,000 miles. Is this a good place to start? Any other ideas?

Check for recalls on your car. PCV recall and IMRC motor recalls fit your year and engine. They can cause that concern. Any codes? carbon on valves. throttle body. Could be a bunch of stuff. More info would be good. PM me ur vin if u want, i check it for recalls

The fuel filter is an excellent place to start. Helped my starting problem.
