      do you have any interior parts from the '75 still?

      i'm really interested in the silver gauge bezel and dash trim if its in good condition.

      I will be keeping all parts until the project is finished so I don't sell anything I need, sorry.

      Okay! Well after a year....a year! in the body shop my rocco has come home.

      I am not 100% happy with the paint job but I don't want to give it back to the body shop in fear they will keep it another year, there is some pretty bad orange peel and some dust in the paint, I am thinking that once I get it all put together I will take it to a professional detailer to see what they can do or maybe attempt to buff it myself.


      Here she is finally home.


      My garage is a total mess so I am stuck doing some of the work in the driveway for now, it rained all weekend so I couldn't get to much done, I dropped the axle and rear suspension, I have a 16V rear beam to go in with some rear discs.



      The body shops attempt at some undercoating? lol


      I battled the axle bushings for a while last night but got frustrated...anyone have any tips on how to get these out?

      Well I got some more work done today, nothing to exciting just got the bushings out and painted them with some chassis saver, painted my old school front sway bar as well.




      I also bought my donor car for the motor swap! I have decided to change directions with my motor choice, I was originally going to use the 1.5L on 38dcoe but have something more interesting in mind...here is a hint...

      Well got some work done on the Rocco today, got the rear beam all together and installed.
      A note for those thinking of using prithane bushings, they are not as wide as the originals and we had to use some washers on the inside of the bushing to space the body mount a little further out to make the studs fit.

      I think I need to raise the rear coilovers a little lol

      The diesel will need a lot of money to make happen, TT down pipe, giles pump, new turbo.
      I already have all the stuff for the carbs plus its more authentic....hmmm....

      Nice thread you have started, and a good inspiration for me. I too have been dreaming about converting my 81 S to TDI since its 1.6 went out years back. If I ever get to it, I probably will keep it forever
