Thread: Is this needed?

  1. 05-25-2012 10:49 AM #1
This is on the firewall and I want to remove it but I'm worried that I need something betwween the engine and the firewall, do I?

And these are on the sides of the engine compartment are they needed or can I remove them?

Thanks in advance for the help!

YEP ITS JUST A LOUVERED FIREWALL INSERT. THEY WERE POPULAR IN THE LATE 90'S. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO REMOVE IT WITH NO PROBLEMS.

Do I need to replace it with anything or can I just have the backside of the cargo tray exposed to the engine? And the PO screwed it to the firewall straight through behind the motor so I will need to pull the motor.

you can leave it plain, paint it ,or apply heat sheild. It is the firewall like in any other car just in the rear. you may want to seal up all the screw holes to help keep engine smells out of the cabin.

There is sound deadener that is supposed to go all around. 3 pieces, one for the firewall, and one each side. I removed mine after the firewall piece got sucked into my fan. It is a bit louder, but fine.
And like JDII said, seal up those screw holes.
