Thread: Timing belt on a V8 $$$$$$

  1. 05-25-2012 01:58 PM #1
I was wondering what would be a reasonable price for a timing belt? Is the recommended mileage 80K. My dealer is pricey so I'd like to know heading in what to expect.

Yes the interval is 80K, The dealer by me wanted $1800 to do the job. I looked around at about 6 different places and they wanted from $1500-2100 to do the Waterpump/Timing Belt and thermostat. I just decided to do it myself and save some money. The parts costs me $435 and the special tools costs me about $155, So I got a little over $600 into parts and tools, and saved me quite a chunk of change.

My old dealership would do a V8 belt with water pump for about $1100-1200.
