Hey guys.
It's been awhile since I've been on this forum, and I have some questions about lowering the 91' Passat I just acquired.
I recently sold the 87' Jetta coupe I had, and started over with the Passat. (I needed more room for my kids)
It's all stock. It has the 2.0 16v with 200,000kms on it, backed by a 5 speed.
I would like to find a good suspension kit for it, and I'm looking for some links, and advice on the best brands ect'.
I'm also looking for some tuning advice for this motor, as it's the first 16v I've owned. (I've always been an 8v guy)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.![]()

Are they any good?? Or are they kinda cheap. I looked for some feedback on those v-maxx kits but found none..
I need a kit that can take some **** & abuse, cause the roads around here aren't all that smooth. lol (I don't plan on being very nice to this car either)
There are a few kits on ebay for around $300-$400 bucks, but they don't look all that great?

I'm told that they are better than racelands, ultimos, or rokkors, which is awesome since they are half the price.

This all depends on your budget.
I have KW V1's on my Syncro. I can tuck stock 15" wheels and its not a bad ride, although I have never driven it that low since I first put them on. At the moment, I'm still low enough that my control arms still point slightly up with the car on a hoist, suspension completely unloaded.
The V1's aren't cheap. Mine were $1300 CAD, closer to 1400 after shipping and the value was written down wrong so I lucked out on Customs Duties.
That being said, I love my V1's and would do it again in a heartbeat. Remember, in the end, you get what you pay for.

look into the modified exhaust cam to be used as intake( supposed ot be the same performance as the aftermarket performance cam sets)
a 50 mm intake to help breathe in more air; a header maybe if staying N/A
convert to mk4 rear calipers at the first sign of trouble with parking cables or if rear brakes are needed.
let me know if you interested in any parts for the cosmetics side of the equation....

Yah thats more than I payed for my car.. lol
Thanx ellocolindo thats the kinda stuff I was look'n for.
But I have a serious problem going on here that I can't figure out?
I took my car out for a spin today, and started gett'n after it.
After a few high RPM shifts it started puke'n antifreeze all over the place (out of the overflow), then it overheated??
Like WTF?
The fans kicked in after I shut it off, so I know that their work'n.
But this is where it gets weird...
Now when I bought the car, the kid I bought it from had replaced the coolant bottle. I noticed that the coolant looked clean, and new.
I bought some more antifreeze, and tried to top it off, and burp the system. But every time I added coolant, (while the car was running) it just puked it back out again?
Could this be as simple as an airlock in the system?
Could the thermostat be stuck shut?
What about something else? Do I have a serious problem on my hands here??
I could use some help. I'm stumped.

yes it could be that has air trapped in the system.
it could be a headgasket; it could be a bad thermostat stuck and the car is overheating.
ask him why was the coolant new? headgasket repair?
thermostat service?

He said he had flushed the system himself before replacing the coolant bottle..
I don't think it's a head gasket? The motor does puff a little blue, but no white smoke. And there's no coolant in the oil.
The thing I find odd is that it seems to be bypassing the whole top part of the system? There is no pressure, or coolant in the top hose. But there is in the heater core, cause the heater is blowing hot.
It seems like any coolant that get's up top is just forced out the overflow.
This has really got me baffled?
I tried pulling the top hose to burp the system today, I just couldn't get anything up to the top hose?
The last option to try is the thermostat..

So ellocolindo was right. It was the head gasket.
I have most of it tore apart right now, I just hope the head isn't cracked.![]()

IT SPENT 1400 DOLLARS IN MARCH OF 06 TO REBUILD MY MOTOR.
THAT IS BLOCK ; CLEANED; RESURFACE THE HEAD AND ALL NEW GASKETS; SEAL AND RINGS AND BEARINGS. I ALSO INSTALLED NEW THERMOSTAT; CLUTCH KIT.
I DID THE LABOUR TO DISASSEMBLE AND REASSEMBLE THE ENGINE.
LET THE MACHINE SHOP TIME THE CAMS TO EACH OTHER...
I LOVE THE RESULT.
A 20 YEAR OLD CAR; THAT PULLS HARD LIKE A NEW OFF THE SHOWROM.
I LOVE PUSHING 40 KMS IN FIRST GEAR; 90 IN SECOND' 120 IN THIRD; 160 IN FOURTH AND I STOP AT 195 IN FIFTH WITH 500 RPMS LEFT ON THE CLUSTER TO KEEP GOING...![]()
