Has anybody had the ad blue warning light come on in their tdi? It came on in my wife's car yesterday saying she had 900 miles to go before topping off the tank. She went by the dealer this morning, they topped it off and the light is still on. All they knew was to just hope it would cycle and turn itself off......anybody had a similar issue?

If the dealer doesn't know how to turn off the light, they are in trouble!!!

I don't have a TDI, but I'm sure they could have checked the code. But they probably expect it to go off after a few restarts, that's likely what they meant about cycling off.

    wait, what?

there's an adblue warning light now?

there was a whole other thread on this board where somebody's tdi wouldn't start because it was low on adblue, and we specifically wondered why vw didn't include some kind of warning about this on the guages.

The warning light comes on yellow when the tank is low, and red when it's really really low, and flashes red when it's out.

I think you are talking about someone that put Biodiesel in his Passat and that is a HUGE NO! NO!

I had the warning and got it down to less than 400 miles left. Dealer refilled and warning light was gone. So they must have reset the light???

Turn ingnition on for 30 sec (do not start car) to reset lamp. (IIRC it's in the owners manual).

Whether it was the 30 second wait or cycling through a couple of drive cycles I'm still not sure, but at least the warning went out. I still find it strange that the dealer couldnt answer the question.......

Press the start button without holding foot on the brake. It will put it into accessory mode.

No such thing. "AdBlue" is a trade name for the entire system. DEF or "Diesel Exhaust Fluid" is the actual product, and it's the same everywhere.

    Oh, and yes.
