Thread: HPA Motorsports – Introducing Downpipe and ECU Tune for Mk6 Jetta GLI

  1. 05-25-2012 07:30 PM #1

HPA proudly steps into the 4 cylinder tuning arena with a race-inspired downpipe and heavy hitting software flash. Both 2.0 TSI and TFSI engines take full advantage of HPA’s 20 years of Volkswagen tuning experience. Countless hours on HPA’s in-house all-wheel drive dyno have produced a software calibration and performance downpipe that have proven their dominance in the US Touring car class of World Challenge.

In the works is a monster FMIC, HPFP and cat back exhaust for the GLI/GTI and R20.

Be the first to experience why HPA is setting track records around the nation.

    HPA,

Is the above dyno showing crank or wheel hp?

Is the above "stage 1 dyno" with only the flash? or does the car also have the downpipe installed?

If stage 1 is only the flash, do you have a stage 2 flash to use with the downpipe (and intake)?

I am local, so no shipping charges.

our dynos labeled Engine Power are at the crank, as reported by our Superflow dyno.

The stage 1 has only the software.

The stage 1 flash will work with the downpipe, updated stage 2 or 1.5 flash coming shortly.

Sleeper, your more then welcome to come by and have a look at the downpipe and the dyno results,
and of course get your car flashed!

I dont have a dealer in Toronto, it would require you to send the ECU to us at this point in time.

Its a very quick turn around in house here, overnight shipping within Canada is pretty reasonable on a package that size.

someone in the following post was saying that the APR downpipe is too long if using the 3" to 2.5" adaptor to fit into the stock catback. Does the HPA downpipe have this problem which required trimming on our own?

    Follow this post for details:

    No,

It was created on our GLI, unless something is different between the exhaust on our car and yours, there should be no trimming needed.

    thanks for your reply

one more concern, I am currently having APR stage 1 on my GLI, if I have your downpipe installed, will APR stage 2 works on this downpipe?

Also, what is the difference in terms of sound between 100 cell and 200 cell catalytic converter? Will this downpipe have drone effect? Or do you have any prototype sound clip to share? I would to hear how does this pipe sound

A customer of ours installed the downpipe on his Golf R, ant the downpipe worked great with the stage 2 tune.

I'm not sure if the effect would be any different on this application but I doubt it.

APR's file will work so long as they have the calibvrations for hi flow cat's. I beleive APR uses a 200Cell steel cat, we use a slightly higher flowing unit from our twin turbo cars, 100Cell Steel on HPA dopwnpipes.

Our Seattle R20 customer is running HPA 100Cell high flow downpipe on APR stage 2 software with no Mil or issues and loves the note and power.

Took it for an initial test drive, and after allowing time for the oil to get to temp., I did several test runs. Wow! What a difference. You can really feel the torque/power now, and it just keeps pulling. Engine noise seems to have increased just a bit, but in a good way. And of course you can hear the turbo whine now, but mainly in the upper gears. I can't wait to get the DP, because I think that will give me everything I am looking for with the car (a bit more power, and especially more exhaust sound, which the car needs)...This amount of torque and power coupled with the AWD is a great combination. I did do a few acceleration runs over a fixed distance, and where the stock car achieved 73 mph at that point, the car is now at 77+MPH after the same distance. I had a 2007 Cayman S not long ago, and this now feels about as quick to me.
Anyway, I'm very pleased so far. I'm anxious to drive it more...

The car is fantastic with this tune. No issues at all...just great power and smoothness...

Your "add to cart" paypal button for the tune on the website link doesn't work. It just links to the dyno graphs. Might want to fix that

Are these 100 cell cats. 50 state legal? From Seattle here as well, wondering if your Seattle client considered emissions factors when determining which cat to use. Wondering myself. Let me know when you get a chance.
