Thread: Airbag light is on

    The other day I got in my and started it up and the airbag light came on homes up an code reader an there where no codes

    Find someone with a vagcom to check for faults in 15-Airbags.

    I had one and even clearing the code it would not go away. Decided to pull the plug that vagcom indicated was at fault, then clean both sides of it with electro contact cleaner, reinstalled connector, connect battery, and clear code. Fault went away and has not been back since. I did this with the battery disconnected just incase since it envolved airbags. It could be an actual fault but if you get lucky its just high resistance in one of the components.

    This was a know issue by vw. There is a recall for this

    that is for the mk5 body style and some touaregs. not mk4

    Nacho had a fault for one of the rear crash sensors, a rare fault IMHO. I think you guys are thinking of the driver and passenger seat airbag faults.

    It was for the driver side explosive reel for the seat belt.
