So today I got the most ransom urge to debadge my trunk. When I was done with the "jetta" piece. I realized that its horizontally scratched and you can see the indentation of where it had jetta placed. And the marks from the rag I used makes it look worse. Will a layer of paint help with the indentation? TIA!

neither of those things are what he wants to use. i mean, he could claybar it first to get any last dirt/residue off, but he really needs to use multiple stages of polishing/buffing compound and then some wax to help protect it afterwards.

i have never seen a badge indentation before.. only thing i can think of to fix it would be wet sanding/polish, but then i would be worried about burning thru the paint.. good luck

ok, so what your seeing is the fresh paint that has been underneath the badge for years now. The rest of the trunk has started to fade. Get multiple grit compounds polish and sealer, and it will look like it was never there.

What it looks like seems to be the opposite. I feel like it was painted and the paint layer was higher than the base of the letters if that makes sense. I'm going to autozone after work to get a buffer any suggestions?

Hope so. I'm gonna get the scratch doc and the buffer. Not sure which one I should do first though, I want to buff it too so the indentations will even out.

      this is what i did.

      1) goo-gone
      2) scratch doctor(if there are surface scratches like mine had)
      3) wax

      that should work the best

Whiped it down with turtle wax scratch and swirl remover, scratches look a lot better but the letters are some what indented into the paint still. I buffed it and then waxed and then buffed again. And you can faintly see jetta. Like most dubbers I'm not satisfied. Any ideas?

Looks like a macco paint job where they just tape around the letters. Sucks!! While you are having the trunk repainted shave the vw emblem!!!!

I heard spraying bug & tar remover on it and letting that sit in the sun for a while and then wiping it down works. Good luck
