My FTG is at 22 3/4" and my passenger axle is rubbing hard whenever i'm coasting and turning left. I've tried raising it but that didn't help. What are the issues and problems that come with just letting it be and "self notching it."

Despite the fact that notching the frame the right way could still lead to a weakened PS frame rail, it's still better because it's reinforced and welded back together. Why would EVER want to let a big notch/hole get rubbed into a ****ing frame rail? Why would you ever want your AXLE rubbing against something and hitting it repeatedly?

The things people do to try and be cool with a lowered car
    science: it's for real.

bahh! note the hacked swaybar in the picture too

    funny stuff

to the OP.. you'll want to get new springs to raise the car a bit, and get new drive axles.. The axles will fail sooner either at that wear mark, or at either of the two ends.

You'll probably need new wheel bearings too..
stock turbo 1.8t.. damn 2-year CA smog.. :/
