If anyone has any suggestions or any ideas it would be greatly appreciated... Here's my story... I have a 2002 VW jetta tdi 1.9L... One fine colorado day my car slides On snow and I hit a curb with my passenger side front tire... Just before impact I was able to straighten the car out and take on the curb kind of straight on with only the passenger tire taking the impact... The top of the tire was clearly leaning in towards the car... Needles to say I had a problem... I took the car to a mechanic and the strut was bent... He replaced the strut and told me that the control arms and knuckle assembly looked fine... 2 months later.... I heard a knocking noise when driving... Took it to another mechanic... They replaced a damaged strut mount bushing... The mechanic also said that the new strut looked good and the the knuckle assembly and control arms looked fine... Since then I've gone through 2 sets of tires and my car has become a rubics cube.. I've taken it to get aligned and they would not align it because of the camber issue... I've taken it to 2 other mechanics since and they just cant seem to figure it out... They always blame it on the after market suspension that is on the car, but I purchased the car with this suspension on it and did not have an issue with any sort of alignment for 6 years... Please help...
Try replacing the control arm. These are usually the weakest link in the suspension. It may be bent ever so slightly but you may not notice. Also for what it's worth camber is not adjustable on MKIV Jettas/Golfs, so trying to correct for damaged parts will not work.
Take your car to the nearest firestone. Tell them you want your alignment checked. Some stores will charge you a small amount, others might do it for free. After your alignment is checked they will give you a printout of what it looks like (camber/caster/toe angles). That will hopefully tell you where your problem lies.
BTW...a slightly bent steering knuckle/spindle may look ok, but it only takes a half degree bend in one direction or the other to really mess stuff up. They do actually make camber/caster kits for the front of your car, but like the above poster said, replace bent parts to really fix your problem.
