Does anyone still make clinchers with a gum wall any more? I'm searching for a decent set of 700cX23 road tires for fast training on a road bike and it seems no one makes them any more.

    Anyone got any leads?

I've been running Vittoria Rubinos for a few years (black sidewall, red outer tread, black center tread) and I want to bring my circa 1993 Pinarello back to what it would have looked like in the day.

On a secondary question, anyone know why gum walls have been abandoned? I've only seen them on tubulars now (which I have on my circa 1983 Pinarello).

    TIA

worst case, Contis still have their brown sidewalls they've had since the '90s.

They're both high dollar, but Vittoria Open Corsa SC and Veloflex Masters both have natural sidewalls. That being said, they both ride like butter on a bald monkey....SMOOOOTH.

Neither are high mileage, flat-proof tires...

No worries. I've been on the Vittoria Open Corsa SC tires for a while. They are SUPER nice, and do look great on the bike.

Sweet ride! I've had Open Corsas before and totally forgot about them and didn't see them on Vittoria's web site.

Gum walls so so much nicer than black. I have a Vittoria all weather pro tubular set on my 1980s vintage super record pinarello... which have clear tread on them as welll as the gum walls... looks badass.

Not sure if they make them any longer, but I found a set of Schwalbe gum wall tires for my old Raleigh a few years back but I don't recall if they came in a 23. They were also wire bead.

I have a pair of 27" pasela gum walls on my 610. Can't complain.

Panarace Pasela Tour Guards are great all weather tires and are very durable.
