The R Looks Awesome!

After selling my B7 S4, and unsuccessful in finding the S5 optioned to my dreams, I decided to give a few dealers a ring until they could find a Golf R optioned to my liking. I should have ordered one last year, but didn't anticipate buying one (thought I wanted a grown up car)
Had a Tornado Red MK4 R32 last year, on cloth car. Loved the rarity, but wished it were Blue.. Sold it like an idiot, but it was probably the biggest factor that made me pick up my new R
For those who don't know me, my name is Tyler, I am 19 years old, and have owned MANY Volkswagen / Audi's. Numerous Corrados, Sciroccos, Mk3, MK2 Glis, B5 S4, MK5 Gli, Mk4 R32, B7 S4, basically a lot. But I think this car is going to be a keeper..
The purpose of this thread is to document the enhancements I will be doing to this already great performing car.

Neuspeed Intake
Neuspeed Short Shift kit

The Car
2012 Golf R, Rising Blue 2 door loaded. Purchased on May 23, 2012 with 60 miles on the clock. Point and shoot pics from the next day.
The morning after I bought the car I ordered Bilstein PSS Coilovers, Neuspeed Intake, and a Neuspeed short shift kit. I love Neuspeed parts, the shifter feels amazing, has good side to side to know the car is in Neutral, but feels tight when shifting.
Three days of ownership and 150 miles on the car, decided it was time to put the coilovers on. I don't have pictures of the install, but it is basically the same process as a MK5/6 car.
Mmmm beautiful Bilsteins
How it sat on the Talladega's. Excuse the dirty-ness, it randomly decided to rain in Southern California a day before. Somehow only managed to get one shot so far with my brother's A4 in it.. Will have more soon.
Fronts are all the way down, rears have another inch or so to go down. Once I have my new wheels sorted the height will be dialed in.
And test fitted the new rollers
Specs are 19x8.5 et 35 BBS CH. Will be have them done gloss black, ordering up 225/35/19 tires this week.
I'll be updating this as I go... Current at 168 miles and it is killing me to not have the car broken in!! Haven't even gone full boost or over 4k rpm... In another month or two it will be past the 1000 mile mark.. My commute is very short

Agreed looks very nice! ET35 on the wheels? Seems like they would poke a lot more...

Thanks for all of the comments
So far it rides great. Not too stiff, not too bouncy on the stock wheels and tires. I chose PSS due to having adjustable coilovers in the past and spending too much time trying to set them up.. These are nice, set the height and drive it.
Yes et35, the rears sit flush, while the fronts poke by 3-5mm. I am stretching the tires slightly to avoid potential rubbing, probably will still have some unless I raise the car.

Took some quick pics of things I have done this week.
Fitment of the wheels
Dirty BBS(Can't wait to get rid of these pads)
Picked up a set of seat inserts.. Look like they should have been there from the start.
Big brake kit will be ordered Monday morning![]()

Lookin' good man. Good work on the seat inserts and the BBS wheels. That's the kind I'm looking at.
When can we see some Recaro's coming in?![]()

Wow, those 35 offset sit about the same as my 45. I'm a bit of a noob with wheels, but really want a pair of 35 offset wheels and was hoping they would fit.
Anything unique you did with these? How do they ride? any rubbing?
Looks great BTW!

Had actually looked into having the Euro Golf R Recaro's shipped over to me, but decided to buy the wheels and BBK instead.. They can wait a few more months
It is all up to how low your car is, width of the wheels, and tire size when comparing et 35 - 45.
I did not do anything out of the ordinary. Removed the front fender liner screw that hangs down low, tucked the plastic inside the fender. Did NOT roll the fenders.
They ride great. No rubbing unless I hit very large dips, and it will rub in the rear. I will be raising the rear about 1/4 inch now that it seems everything has settled.

The installation pictures from yesterday
Blurry shot of the factory R brake setup, with a mere 500 miles.
Caliper, carrier, and rotors removed to show the hub and spindle.
The 'pretties' installed and ready to be bed in
These calipers are massive. I thought they looked big in the pictures, but wow, holding them in person, I almost wanted to just carry them around forever![]()

I don't have a before and after comparison, I sold my OEM brakes to a friend and didn't want to go too hard on the rotors for him.
I can tell you that now the Brembos are broken in, WOW. They stop the car when you need it to stop, but feel totally stock when your cruising or doing light braking. No aggressiveness or twitchy pedal feel, but under hard braking they really respond in a good way. I have only jumped on them a few times for testing, I plan to go on a little drive tomorrow to find some open road and do some further testing
----------------------------------
Here are some shots I took this morning. Still learning how to use my DSLR. Yes, I know my marker lights are a different blue, I was sent the wrong paint... Looks like the euro bumper will be even closer to the top of my list of things to do now.
I love the black calipers, they look so stealthy

Where did you buy those Bilstein coilovers from? I couldn't find em on any of my regular VW parts websites?

Ah man, the BBK looks amazing! Those are 19" Ch's right? They fill them out perfectly..
Would the factory 18s clear the brembos with a spacer
#32
19x8.5 et35 Ch's
I have about 8-10mm of clearance between my spokes and the calipers, so I would safely bet the stock wheels would clear. Even if you had to run a 5-8mm spacer on the stockies, they would not poke past the fenders
I'd test fit a wheel for you but sold my stock wheels a few weeks ago.
