Im not 100% sure but if i remember right you can disable the alarm horn thru the mfd. Maybe it got turned off somehow. Good luck and please post how you fix it so if i run into that problem.

So the wife calls me saying the alarm on the Jetta isn't making the honk when you lock the car. So I was thinking one of the doors or the trunk wasn't fully closed, So when I got home from work I open and close all doors, trunk, hood, even gas door lol and still no honk when locked with the key fob. It will arm and lock like normal with flashing corner lights and red flasher, But even if I roll down the window, arm it, then open the door from the inside no alarm just flashing hazards. Checked all the fuses all are good as i read on another forum it may be the fuse but on my car 09 SE There is no fuse where the diagram says alarm honk socket 35 in the interior fuse box. But the only diagram i could find was for an 06 TDI.. Just to make sure the fuse didnt fall out i put a 5 amp in the socket but still nothing.. I also read it could be a lose connection to the alarm horn but i have no idea where that is located.. Anyone ever had this problem on an MKV? Car is still under VW CPO warranty so may be taking a trip to Findlay Hendo..

Of course right when I make an appointment at the dealer the alarm starts working again LOL.. Now I don't want to go to the dealer and be one of "Those Guys" Cause they can not duplicate the problem..I Must have reset something after pulling every fuse in both fuse boxes and reseating.. Seems to be working now. weird..

i have the same issue on the GTI but it was from a nasty off course slide at a track day and ended up cracking a windshield and loosening the connector for the harness to the CCM. Now i get an intermittent communication error to the CCM.
Will MIG or TIG for $$$,, or trade.

mk4's do the same thing when the door lock module goes bad or more specifically the solder joints on the door lock module crack. might do the same thing on the mk5s?
She know me from that no hands, but imma need her to use no teeth.

I had that issue in my MKIV, but the culprit was that the stock stereo was not shoved all the way in. It wasn't locked all the way in properly. If it is BARELY pulled out, the locking horn will not sound. Reseating it fixes it every time.
....Ahhh, quality MKIV's
Anyway, just a thought.
