Yes, have been having this problem along with intermittent loss of power under acceleration, worst in colder weather. It has not generated a CEL in spite of what feels like a random misfire that shakes the car.
I have been using nothing but Chevron 94 Octane Premium Plus since the vehicle was purchased in May '10 (just over 29,000 km) , and the randomness of the intermittent misfire and power loss issues make me think it is not fuel quality related.

I use 91 always and mainly Shell.
Cold start tremble.
Cold driving thunk from transmission shifting, mainly downshifts.
Cold driving hiccup when driving, rare but happens.

Happened to my tiguan as well. My dealer finally find out the wire that connect injector/spark plug went bad. Replaced the wire harness 2 weeks ago seems to fix the issue.
