That's from people jumping off bridges and killing themselves (or bodies dumped into the water), and after a period of decomposition, the feet detaching and floating up to the surface due to the buoyancy of the shoes. At least one pair was identified as belonging to a jumper

Magnotta, however, vigorously denied those allegations, telling the Toronto Sun in 2007 he had never even met Homolka.

Montreal police said they aren’t ruling out other body parts being sent in the mail, and wouldn’t comment on whether other body parts had already been found.

Police are also in possession of the video of the dismemberment, the CBC has confirmed, which was believed to have been taken by the suspect.

“The suspect and victim knew each other,” Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told reporters Wednesday. “It isn’t linked to organized crime.”

Last night, at first they just said that police were in possession of a video of the killing/dismemberment. Now I read that it was apparently posted online on a site called "Best Gore"... now that's some ****ed up ****.

I'm not braving the video or site, but it sounds like the people there pulled a 4-chan and figured out who the guy was.
