After going to Supercar Sunday this past weekend, more on that later, I decided to take a drive up Mulholland Highway so I could enjoy the sights and sounds of the awesome machinery that can be found around the area. "The Snake" is what the windiest part of the road has been nicknamed and it is a very popular spot for motorcyclist, sports car drivers and the spot where many commercials are filmed. It is a very windy piece of road which starts at The Rock Store, a very popular hangout spot, and ends at a look out point a few miles ahead. The look out point is always where I choose to hang out as that is the meet up point where many groups of enthusiast seem to like to hangout and have a little pit stop during their canyon runs.

During this outing I spotted a few Ferrari's, a Viper, a whole bunch of Cobras, S2000's, Nissan GTR's, a green mystery machine, a cammed LS1 280Z, Porsche GT3RS 4.0, old British tin, a 56 Chevy and a real 32 Ford...and the list goes on and on. Oh yeah, and I also spotted Jay Leno in his 1915 Hispano Suiza powered by an 18.5L V8. The car is so primitive that even the brakes are cable operated! Leno had a few small issues with the car while on the run, but he was able to quickly fix it and be on his way.

If you ever make it to Supercar Sunday I recommend you add a drive up Mulholland as part of your trip. Just make sure to respect the rules of the road and drive or ride safely. There's been an ever increasing cop presence on the road lately due to people trying to show off and running out of skills on the road.

I'd love to run into Leno at a car event.

I think almost every SoCal TCL'ers has had a close encounter with Leno. It's not that difficult to bump into him because he goes to all the same events we do and is also a super nice guy.

I think I've said this before

I love seeing all these photos of these "track toys" and can imagine the egos that comes with some of them. The ones with the coolest mods, barky exhausts, and 'ring stickers... bragging about how rare their particular trim level is, etc...

The "oohs" and "aaahs" are going well, then.........Leno shows up in some pre-war race car with a cargo ship engine in it.

    "LENO!"

that's pretty cool, though i'm surprised that there aren't any po-po in any of those pics. being a public road and all, you'd think the law enforcement would be out there patrolling, especially on nice days. did you see any ass-hattery? seeing all those vids on youtube makes me think someone must have done something foolish while you were shooting

There were cops hidden at various points on the road. Did see a couple of wheelies and a burnout or two...pretty boring standard stuff.

My first thought is this is a pre-war Lagonda, but I'm not familiar enough with the brand to say exactly which model or coach-builder this is. The vehicle registration tag AG 9061 indicates a pre-1932 registration from Beverley (Hull). This doesn't mean much on its own as tags are commonly transferred to newer cars. But perhaps it gives historians a reference point upon which to base their search.

You forgot to mention his earbuds. What, the V8 playing the side-pipes isn't enough music for you?

Pretty sure Leno is single-handedly keeping the denim shirt business alive.

Did I read that correctly, 18.5 Liter engine. I wonder what mpg a thing like that would return.
