Thread: I think the Dealer may have damaged my Side Skirt!

  1. 05-30-2012 10:50 PM #1
I got my car home from the dealer about a week ago and I noticed that a piece of plastic was hanging off of the side skirt then I noticed that the near where the plastic was hanging off that my side skirt or rocker panel didn't look normal.

The other side looks just fine but I am pretty sure I would have noticed this before on my car if it was there and I have had this car for all most 3 years. I noticed that small dents on the front of the side skirts which I know come that way from the factory to indicate the jack points.

What do you guys think? It almost looks like edge of the rocker panel has been bent forward. I need some advice I have never dealt with a situation like this before.

This has been discussed. It is from the four corner lift arms. They did a ****ty job of putting yours on a lift... I hate hate when techs don't pay attention to that ****. We had a guy drop a Pontiac off a lift due to that.

I have searched this board and all I could find was about the small dents in the front of the side skirts but this is at the rear of the side skirt and looks like the edge of the rocker panel was pushed forward. Has this happened to other people from the lifts at the dealer if so I think I would see a lot of post from pissed off customers

Sorry I am wasn't being rude. If you have seen where this has been discussed before can you point me in the right direction. I searched the board and I wasn't able to find anything. Is this something that has happened to you or have you just seen this issue before?

Yes it happened to me. What are you looking for a confirmation? Possible action? IIRC everyone just lived with it. If you want bring it up to the service manager, but there is nothing that they will/ can do about it.

My recommendation call service manager let him know, show pictures or let them see the damage. Then if that doesn't work out call VWoA and worry about resale damage and possible rust issues.
