It tastes like ground up badger ass hole mixed with whatever other fruit you throw in.

That said, it would be great to have a healthy snack thread. I can't see it in OT though...health and fitness?
I can only enjoy kale when it's drizzled in oil, sprinkled with salt, and toasted in the oven for 20 minutes. It shrinks down tiny, it's crunchy, and it has a nice salty taste. I really don't like kale any other, but I can't stop eating it when I make it into 'chips'. Give it a try --- it's ridiculously good for you.

I was looking for more details on the options with the chickpea chips and actually saw something about the kale chips while looking. might try that
How'd you like em? And to the kale chips as well --- as I said above, it's the only way I can actually enjoy eating kale.

I hear ya. For me, cutting out soda and making every snack a whole food has helped me a lot. I love grilling pineapple or eating a bowl of strawberries covered in honey or handfuls of the aforementioned chickpea chips. I don't feel guilty and after a while, like chilledman was saying before, actual sugary and processed snacks just start to no longer taste that good.

I lost 12 pounds by accident last summer when I rediscovered putting butter on crackers. I went nuts with the butter. But I also drink no soda or sweetened drinks.

It's really true - eat good fats, and enough of them, and your body stops storing fat. Mine did.

well up I was watching a loud show and never heard the timer so they were a bit burnt.. whoops tasted a few of the not so black ones and they were good, will try again tonight with the can I found in the pantry.

My biggest issue is my GF is a super picky eater, think of the pickiest 5 year old you have seen and double that.. you barely have her. She does like salt and chickpeas though so she was excited to try these.

I've lately been enjoying chard more than kale. It's got that nice, beet-y flavor to it. I made some really bitching tacos for some vegetarian friends of mine - caramelized sweet potatoes, chard, and chipotle crema.

it really isn't hard to lose weight. i have lost over 20 pounds in the last few months. i still eat whatever i want and i don't exercise. it's called portion control!!! i eat a small breakfast to hold me over until lunch, then i eat anywhere from 8-12oz for lunch which holds me over until dinner. When i make dinner at home i eat a full plate of food, i DO NOT go back for seconds. I also cut out 85% of the pop i previously drank. We will see how far this gets me, my total goal was a sustainable
    45lb loss.

Looking at this, I wonder if there is a different response if you're one of those people that "nurse" their drink.

I can make a 20oz Coke last 4 hours before it's empty, or a 12oz can last an entire meal. Is the end result different, since it isn't all coming in one massive rush?

    no mixed message there

tonight I was hungry, so I fried up 6 slices of bacon, 2 eggs in the grease and then made some green beans and crumbled up the bacon into the boiling water. You can have your sugary donut. I'll eat my fatty protein

Ok, making some right now. I had forgotten how much I liked the taste of Tabasco sauce. I don't think I've had any in a couple years.

This law is a poor attempts to fix the problems in our healthcare system. If people could get their s*it together go see a doctor and actually listen to them and eat healthy. To me if they want to change something make food stamps only apply to healthy low cost foods, such as fruits vegetables and other basic foods (no sodas, deserts, chips and so on). Even that wont fix the problem it just makes more sense that the current process. Just to say it really does piss me off that someone can claim disability because they are obese and diabetic... If you cant be concerned enough to watch your weight why should the government be responsible for helping you?

    If. If. If. If.

Meanwhile, a private organization is making $$BANK$$ feeding the masses an overpriced, cheap to make, non-nutritive, highly addictive, nostalgia-filled & marketed liquid gold. The consequences of which is quite a tab on the health and welfare of all of America.

All modern, manufactured & packaged products do this. Cheapest sweet ingredients, buzz, flavor and then market the heck out of it. We are suckers.

    Solutions:

    1. Educate.
    2. Change packaging completely. Make the ingredient print sizing as large as the brand name.
    3. Eliminate marketing B.S. especially to kids.
    4. Nutrition facts section goes to the front!
    5. Get retailers on board philosophically. Now they are $$$ sleeping with the manufacturers.
    6. Nuke Costco/SamsFatClub/SuperDuperSized stores that sell it in bulk. Customers are huge!
