I imagine a lot of **** needs to come off, things need to be replaced and rewired.

I don't see it being an 'easy' job by any means. Are you comfortable accessing and possibly removing the heater core?

Personally, I wouldn't do it just due to the work (and maybe cost) involved for little return. What do you really gain besides looks and possibly a slight increase in comfort with regards to cabin environment?

To do it, you need to do more than possibly remove the heater core.

the dash comes out. Everything related to HVAC in the cabin comes out. Then you have got the new climatronic unit in place, run the new worrying harnesses, etc.. It's not an easy job, but is fairly straight forward. I'm thinking about doing it to my 20th over the winter

The GLI does not have climatronic.

i honestly like the regular heater stuff better.

the climatronic in my r32 always pissed me off, you have to look down at the screen to see whats going on with the temp and it takes your attention away from the road.

If someone DOES do it.... please make a detailed DIY. I searched years ago on what it would take... and from everything i researched, stabbing yourself in the eye would be a more pleasant experience than converting to climatronic.

This is why I wish the 3/2/G forum was just part of the MK4 forum like it should be..

From the MK4 forum faq/diy thread...
