Hmmm, I can't say I like that rear end. No sir.

The new Boxster looks amazing though, and that's something I never thought I'd be saying.

With the camo, the rear end looks like a bad S2000 hard top conversion. Looking forward to seeing it without.

And seeing that I'm glad I got a gen 1 and that there will be some cheap gen 2s soon to replace it. Porsche wants to de-polarize their styling and make their cars more mainstream looking and that's not what i signed up for. So far I'm not liking this VAG influence one bit. Granted these new cars are light years better technically, especially in the interior departments, but they just seem softer on the eye. I guess I'll wait to see one in person, but I liked the renderings I saw better than this.

The rear end is the same on both.

Except that the Cayman has a roof.

Except the sloping roof to the rear ruins it IMO. I just don't like the proportions.

Got to drive the new Boxster S not the Cayman. But driving the Boxster S gave a pretty good indication of how the Cayman will feel.

The taillights look awkward on the rear otherwise its clearly a Cayman. The Boxster wins in the looks department but the Cayman will drive better.

    The taillights are covered up!

Agree. I know they need to make it look different from the 991's rear, but I'd rather have the Cayman look like a 911 from the back than have it look like that.

Seems like the proportions are a bit better but not by much...

After the M3, I'm leaning toward the Cayman S.....we'll see what brings. Obviously would like to see what the final product looks like, I don't love the rear in the initial spy photos. Yes, I understand there is various crap covering up the back. But I get the idea.

That's the price point I would like to stay within.

Then again, they're doing wrong things, too, IMHO. Everytime I see a goddamn Cayenne Diesel on the road, I lose some of the massive want I've had towards the 991 and the Boxster and the upcoming Cayman.

I like how the decklid/roofline slopes down with a more 911 like line than before. Together with the "dent" in the decklid and the rear haunches the old Gayman looked sorta like a sedan from certain angles.

You can't even see exactly what it will look like because there's camo on it.

Thumbs up so far. It appears they have improved the 2 things I didn't like about the first generation: The roof profile and the side vents.

The previous Cayman looked worse from the back IMO. The new one is a slight improvement.

Any idea when it's supposed to be revealed?

I'd expect it to be unveiled in time for the Paris Motor Show or Los Angeles Auto Show this fall. Porsche usually unveils vehicles in press photos well before the shows, not at them, and simply debuts them to the public there.
