It was done on a mustang dyno, which explains the lower 'before' hp compared to other tests, which have all been done on dynojet. The important thing here is the delta, not the final number.

It is a lot considering you figure a highly tuned factory motor like this one would most likely have optimized software map from the factory for the boost pressure it's running, which is controlled by the pulley.
It's not like flashing a turbo car which actually changes the boost to make power, this is a good amount of power gain with no pressure change.

i'd have to contest. just because the car is tuned from the factory, doesn't mean its pushed to its limits. keep in mind it is a production car and warrantied by Ford/Shelby. if the engine blows thats a repair that they have to pay for. obviously they will underboost it much like the GTI, Evo, pretty much any high performance car direct from the factory. with numbers like 500HP another 50HP is what, 10%? not much of a gain if you ask me![]()

ECU is likely the same as it has been. Jon Lund (****ing douche that apparently doesn't want my money) is the one doing the tuning.

I mean you're right, it might have more in it at the same pressure being it's such a big motor with a blower on top, but i'm willing to guess that they got that power out of it just from tweaking maybe fueling but most likely just ignition timing. I'm sure as they come out the flashes will become more aggressive as they get further into the ECU. Does the 5.8 have variable valve timing? It'll be interesting when they play with that as well.

The technology is astounding. I have mentioned a few times before, a decade or so ago I had a 393 SBF in a 5.0, naturally aspirated with massive heads/cam etc running 12:1 compression and a 150 shot that ran 142 in the 1/4. It ran on 112 and wasn't really streetable, and it weighed 3000 lbs with me in it. 140+ mph in the 1/4 is serious power, not to mention doing it in a normal production car.

The TVS blowers have an electronic bypass valve which dumps boost under the stock tune. This allows headroom for the factory car to maintain power under tough conditions - elevation, high heat, etc.
Tunes can close this valve meaning it actually can increase the boost without changing the pulley ratio.
