What was the citation for?

Wife tries to fight speeding ticket, ends up with 30 days suspended license.?
She went to court today to request traffic school. This was her first traffic violation of any kind ever.
The citing officer threw her under the bus, the Judge took her license.
Is there any appeal process? It seems excessive. She wont be able to go to work for a month?

My friend was speeding and got a ticket for "no insurance" because his card wasn't in the car, as well as the 15MPH over. His first violation in years. The judge, apparently, was in a bad mood and suspended his license for 1 year![]()

They want you to send the check so they don't have to deal with another body at the courthouse.
When you show up, you are demonstrating by being there that you don't think the amount is fair.
So they play this game and next time you just send the check.
The nail that sticks out gets hammered down.

I guess we can look on the bright side. If this was in Texas, the judge would have thrown her ass in the slammer for 30, to make an example out of her.

yeah...
'round here you'd never get this treatment...unless you're doing 130 in a 65.
which is most likely the case.

wtf? I have court on the 19th for a speeding ticket for $200. Guess I better kiss my license good bye?

Sarcasm meter broken?
And how the hell does that have anything to do with socialism? There's this thing called the internet now, you don't have to fork over money or go to the library to look stuff up in a dictionary or encyclopedia. You should check it out. Or are you too busy watching FoxNews?

This is why you never say no to Mr. Officer.

She was cited for 89mph.
Like I said she requested traffic school and apparently the Judge was not in a happy place today.

Why go to court to request traffic school? Too far over the limit? Oh wait, 89MPH? Never mind, Judge was fair.![]()

I assume 65 so that's 24 over the limit?
Yep she blew it.
I'm asking about an appeal process. Is there any fix for this?
Honestly asking stupid question I know, but I've never dealt with something like this.

odd way to look at things.
i have never seen anything like this in the multiple times i have been in court.
i was just in court fighting a ticket a year ago. nearly everyone of the 8-10 people before me got their tickets reduced.
fyi i did my research, fought my ticket and won.

I need to follow this... "Not everything you eat has to, or should, taste really f*cking awesome. Sometimes you need to eat 'boring' food to stay healthy.

I'd say there has to be more to the story than your wife simply asking for traffic school. If she was at all disrespectful it likely contributed.
#28
As an extra bonus, wait till your insurance company picks this up. 24 over speeding ticket + suspended license + '11 TTS Coupe = $$ pain.

I got a 99 in a 65,(30 over is mandatory court) hired a ticket clinic for $150, never set foot in a court room... 6 months later, no points, just had to take 4hr traffic school, and pay the initial ticket amount which was like $3**.![]()

If your wife wanted traffic school, she didn't even have to appear at court. At all. She just had to mail in her fine and traffic school fee. Unless she was at court to contest said violation, going there was a waste of time.
Also, do tell which courthouse it was.

If this is her first ticket in 18 months, just mail in the fines and request traffic school. Why did she go to court? If this was her 2nd ticket, then I can see playing the odds for the officer to not show up... but on a first ticket?
Also, which court and what judge?
