Prove that the inline 5 is a diesel from the 97 a6...

I am interested in swaping a 2.5tdi from a 1997 audi a6 avant (I-5) into a 2001 audi a4 for a first car. I was wondering if it was possible to do the swap and if it would be possible to place the engine horizontally due to the engine length and front end weight it would cause.
The reason i want to put this engine in a b5 is because i love the sound, power and history of the 5 cylinder. I would assume the 1.9 tdi is easier to swap because it was used in europe only and is much smaller but do not like the sound of it and would need to tune it to. I am also interested in running the engine on diesel-veg oil 50/50.
Pictures or links for websites, companies and or past similar swaps would be greatly appreciated.

Yup it was the I5 TDI in the C4, and then went to the V6 TDI in the B5 and C5. The V6 sucks - its overweight and under-powered so I can see the attraction of fitting the I5 in a B5.
I know the I5 has been done before - didn't 034 make one? I think its a lot of work because of the length though.
Throw an Audi engineer down a hole with a ladder and he will fashion a shovel from it and tunnel his way out

Is that the new super short one?

The transmission in the car is a 6-spd. Wouldn't that fit into the B5? Would the engine be able to be placed in the bay transversely instead on longitudinally ?

Would the 0B4 gearbox + linkages only be required if the engine was placed longitudal ?
