    so my friend recently bought a mk4 and it looked like they hacked off 2 inches off the shift rod. He wants to know if he can replace it with a stock rod if so how would he do it? thanks in advance you guys.

    it's an oem vw part...Urotuning can probably get you a direct replacement but you could also do an aftermarket B&M short shifter which would fix your problem.
