High pitched sound coming from engine

So I just got my GLI a month ago and last night I noticed a high pitched tone coming from the engine after I came back from a drive. The noise only seems to start when I have driven for a little and the engine is warm.

I've done some research and and this is exactly what it sounds like:

From what im finding it might be a problem with the water pump. Gonna take it to the dealer on Mon. and check

Sounds like you have figured it out. Too bad my whine isnt as easy to identify sounds like the tranny spinning the gears excessively. Dealer "can not replicate" so I'll drive it until it blows up

I'm dealing with the same issue. Its in the shop now, they're definitely able to replicate it. I mentioned the pump issue today but they said they'd look into it.

Took my car to the dealer today and it definitely was coming from the water pump.
Took a couple hours to replace and fix but the issue is resolved .

Hope they can fix yours quick
