not sure if this is the right thread but just need peoples opinion.. Im buying my brother an s4 and was able to get my buddy to sell me is before he moves. Heres the details
    -01 b5 s4 with traction control
    -202k miles
    -timing/waterpump/ect done at 140k
    -needs new caliper
    -on stock turbos
-apparently on stock clutch too but shifts fine
-owner just spent 700 dollars on new tires
-no dings on car, its mint and was well maintained
    -dead pixels
-normal leather wear but no rips
    -apr tuned stage 2
-full exhaust but with cats and not sure what brand
-stock ride height and no major mods

buddy was asking 6,000 but we agreed we can do 4,900. Do you guys think that would be a fair price?

well seeing as the timing belt was done 62k miles ago, its almost due for another one... so make sure to budget for that since it is not cheap except if you do it yourself.

Is your friend someone who took care of the car, got all the scheduled maintenance on time and didn't abuse the car?

If everything is legit I think it'd be a decent buy at $4000. But if it was me I would have $4-5000 sitting in the bank because I think you'll need it within the next 6mo to 1yr. The turbos are going to need to be replaced at some point, if the throttle body boot hasnt gone yet it probably is in the process of failing. There are all the other little issues that you mentioned and probably some that aren't known.

You say you are buying it for your brother... is he old enough to understand this is a car that you have to baby and take care of and it will reward you for? but if you abuse it and drive the guts out of it it'll hurt you back in the wallet?

we are all good, i purchased the car and it pulls just as hard as my stage2+ meth injected s4. Not as fast when running meth but extremely impressed without it. The car was owned by old enthusiasts who babied and garaged the car. If anything goes wrong with it I guess i will be fixing it lol
