    1. Price is the biggest issue....
    2. How modded does it look? Can you make it look more factory? People are more apprehensive when buying modded cars.
    3. Service records?
    4. How well is the car represented? Is it really clean and waxed? Is the interior really clean? Does the pics reflect its condition?

the car is immaculate, it does look moded but theres nothing i can do about that. car is waxed and washed weekly, all of the service records for things i had done to the car i have. and the turbo set up was installed by one of the best shops in FL (same guys who worked on the twin turbo HPA R32). im asking $8500 for the car which i dnt feel is too much, since the clutch turbo, and timing belt are less than a year old.

Most people don't want to buy a modded car, and aren't willing to pay extra for the mods that are already there (since they don't care anyway). So when they compare your car, to a mostly stock car at half the price, they pick the stock car.

I'm assuming you started at about $10k after looking at your thread. You can almost get an 07/08 Passat with similar mileage from the dealer at that price.

I'm sure there are buyers out there that will pay a premium because they enjoy the mods you did, but its going to take time to find them.

Most people looking for modded cars aren't looking for passats. It is a tough car to sell and with the mods that makes it even harder.

Especially since with the today economy, more people are looking for a stock car that they know will dependable and reliable. I have sold many modded cars and come to find out, either you will take a loss on or have to wait for that one certain person. Plus with passats, they don't really have much of a drawn in for people in the modded scene, to most people they see them as a family car.

According to edmunds, the private sale value of your car is a little over $3,000 in my area. Don't expect any money for your add-ons and mods. With some luck, someone might give you an extra $500.

I appraise cars for a living. A quick look at Black Book and online auction data would suggest that your car is worth around 3K wholesale. A dealer would hope to clear about $3000-3500 profit on your car.. i.e. $6000-6500 and they can finance.

thats a last ditch option since i dnt have any of the stock parts... id have to get wheels and stock brakes. and im not parting out the turbo, thats just to much work.

Another option is trading it straight across for something else you want.

What will it take to get it back to stock and then sell the aftermarket parts separately and make better money.

after looking at the pics of your car. It looks nice but your asking about 3 grand too much. i like the car but its a 98 thats been modded out to a very distinctive taste. if i were in the market for your car id offer 4 grand maybe 5 if you had all service records. lower your price and dont scoff at lowballers, then you'll sell it.

For one, the car looks bad; there is no way u gonna get more than 4gs for it. Most of us like clean looking cars that looks euro and not JDM, as most of these people say, drop the price down and make look like a VW.
