Today I installed my LED tail lights (no fog) and changed byte 18 from 20 to 21. All seemed fine until I drove the car. Now I have a back up light error.

When I checked the lights themselves the right light is white and the left light is red.

WTF? Anyone else get this error? Are both your back up lights white? Bad QC at the factory?

they sent you the wrong set. its happened before.

makes sense that codes for non fog tails would have an error on w/ fog tails.

Nope, just the 4 connecting wires.

I'm having all sorts of errors. I had my LED with rear fog on my GTI and it worked just fine. When I used 04 in the coding it had the front passenger LEDs off and the driver side rear fog constantly on when driving.

So that everyone isn't confused or any other people like myself...can someone write what we do to get our rear fog working?

Do we wire it like I did with my GTI following the DIY thread on here?

Then once installed, how do we code it?

If you have rear fog you need the switch and two repair wires. Follow the Notes on LED Tail thread which was freshly bumped.

also make sure the adaptor harness is wired correctly
one of mine from ECS was wired reverse so one of my tail lights was yellow when lights were on, and blinked red when signaling...although it sounds like you have a fog version

I'll add to this. Two of my harnesses were wired backwards and one was loose so it wasn't even making contact. Very sloppy work, especially for the price.

Ya you definitely have the fog version. I had to return my left inner light to ECS twice before I got a non-fog one. Good luck on getting it replaced, it was annoying waiting for the correct light
