Doesn't hurt that they're good trucks. Roomy on the inside, small length on the outside, fuel economy no worse than a "car" Crown Vic. If I needed the room more regularly, I'd happily daily one. They drive more car like than one would expect.

I'd be willing to bet that there are more 2007+ Tahoes (Suburban/Yukon) than Explorers, Expeditions, Durangos, Sequoias, and Armadas combined.
It's also become popular with police departments. Good for ramming and driving on curbs, makes the Charger etc. look inept and departments look vain for using it...

Colorado State Patrol has two silver RAM 3500 duallies doing "undercover" rounds on I-25 (yes, I mean that - duallies). They have silver RAM 1500 "undercovers" patrolling Santa Fe Boulevard also. City police departments have the same; my girlfriend got pulled over by a Wheat Ridge police officer in a RAM 1500 on a low-traffic local street. Where did this budget for huge trucks suddenly come from? I can only guess...

I almost got hit by a Michigan Trooper in a Tahoe a couple weeks ago, maybe he just liked to run down cyclists. Either way, he apologized and let me on my way without even asking for ID.

The Chassis is getting quite old now and still looks great! One of the the only, if not the only SUV out there that ages well and will continue to do so. I wish I could justify owning one at the moment.
In all reality a truck makes more sense for me unfortunately.
