I'd try the AOKP rom (android open kang project). I'm running AOKP on my Kindle Fire, and it works well.

I don't think there are many owners here on the vortex as I dont' see much talk about it and only really one other thread I found so far. I can tell why, its quite enormous. Here is a pic of it next of a few other phones.
From L --> R. Samsung Galaxy S2 (world), Motorola Droid Bionic, Galaxy Note, iPhone 4s.
I have ICS on it now (Team Perfection's ICS Objection) , but I believe the ICS source (its a 3rd party rom) was or is still in beta because my device is kinda buggy. Im going to try a new rom soon. I'll let you know how I like it as time goes on. I really wanted white but I got a great deal on this black one, it was used and has a scratch on the bottom of the screen by the buttons, it doesn't show up in pictures. I wasn't going to spend full price on this, I have too many phones as is...
Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. A normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.

Awesome phone. I've had mine for a couple of months (the international version) and it's amazing all around. Mine's already on official ICS, but the official ICS hasn't yet been released for the American version as it runs on different hardware.
To be honest, I don't find the size a problem - it's not THAT big, and easily fits in the pocket of any of my pants. Plus the extra size is worth it, as the screen is fantastic.

You probably should've gotten international edition with the Exynos SOC. The snapdragon version with LTE is a slow dog. You will notice the widget lag soon.
You already read my review, I think that this device is a bit too rushed at the moment. It needs ICS, it needs better S-pen apps, and a higher quality SOC like the S4 Krait with LTE would be a huge performance boost.
Touch screen sensitivity could be better, it's not as sensitive as the SGS2 or Gnex. Camera performance is very slow due to the processor.
