yeah it can work...but why not keep the 2.0 aba? thats a great combo. also yes the mounts will swap over

Is this possible? Would it even be a smart thing to do? I bought a complete RV 1.8 engine, harness and ECU and am trying to put it into my mk1 that currently has a blown ABA/JH swap and am trying to cut the amount of work down and keep it CIS. I am new to VW's and dont know much about them. Wiring is my enemy :screwy . And also will the mounts from my ABA work with the new engine? Thanks!

Well the ABA I have now doesnt have oil pressure and before that it blew the HG. I planned on getting just another ABA block but I've been searching for about the past 4 months or so, and every single one that I've found just hasnt happened. Either they sell them fast, or I cant get ahold of the seller and I just need to either get rid of this car, or get it running because my parents are mad about it just sitting in our driveway.
But if I swap the heads for the CIS, would I have to still use the RV harness for all the sensors on the block? Or would I just have to splice in the RV harness to what's already in the car? It's got me so confused, I'm no mechanic!![]()

Where are you located? I have an aba/jh motor in my cabby right now thats getting pulled out for a full aba turbo, I'm selling the old motor
I swapped it in literally 7500 miles ago, so gaskets and whatnot have that much on them.

Bump.
My mechanic said that the wiring harness that is in the car isnt going to work, the motors in and most of its hooked up. The car cranks over but no spark. I was in a rush when I talked to him and now he isnt there at the moment to speak too, but he said something about needing to change the computer. I figured since I am still running CIS, that the ecu I had in there would continue to work. Any input is appreciated, thanks.![]()
