I think i'm low on transmission fluid in my 01' automatic 2.0. Does anyone know how to check it? and what fluid to use? I bought a quart of Castrol import multi-vehicle automatic trans fluid. Curious if i'm on the right track. Thanks!

According to my local dealer, you need a VAG-COM to do it, along with some kind of funky technique.

I never trust my dealer, and it's always steered me the right way.

There's an answer that seems pretty legit, haven't tried it myself. Oh, and I don't know for sure if that fluid is acceptable, check the VW standards listing.

As for OEM ATF fluied its the G 052 162 A2, compatible with DextronIII/Merkon.

This is my 3rd post/reply here, not very familiar with forums to be honest. I would try to upload the procedure for you as pics.

I do thing you can do it without the VAG, since you are only thinking of topping it off. See the 7th picture.
