This photo reminds me of the style of candids you see from time to time from the 70s. Love it.
I just brought my 35mm back to DC, need to get a battery for it and restart my High School years. Really looking forward to it. I need to check that Pizza place out! I've passed by it many times (live nearby) but am looking for a good ol' NY style pizza!
I used to shoot with 400TX...but would also like to shoot some color too...any suggestions? So far I really like how ry_guy's shots came out...
Staying tuned!![]()

Finished up my second roll for week 2, played around with the new Lomography 110 film. Overall - it reminds me of generic Eastern Europe BW film like Efke and Foma. Developed in R09 1:50 and was shocked at the grain amount. I'll be trying another roll with HC110 to see if I can control it a little better. Be forewarned: ****ty 110 cameras will scratch the hell out of your film
Scanning was interesting but not too hard. I just used the 35mm film holder for my Nikon Coolscan and placed them in there carefully. No need to invest in one of those $80 cardboard pieces

I'm taking a quick trip solo to Seattle next week and went to the store to buy some 120/instant/35mm for the trip so I had an ample supply to shoot. I couldn't believe the prices of 220$72 for a pro pack of Portra 400. That's more than buying 2 pro packs of 120 by $5! What is the point of 220? Other than not having to change rolls as much. The Hassey came with a 220 back but I seriously doubt I will ever use it.

hassey a24 backs used at adorama are less than 20 bucks!

A shot I took from around the beginning of this project(January).

Finally finished the first roll in the QL17 I got. Portra 800 = blegh, but I liked these.
Took so long because the first night I had it out, I was drinking a smoothie, and a drop fell off the side of the straw and landed DIRECTLY between the body and the lens. Found it's way in, and made it sticky and almost impossible to focus. I cleaned it out with some water and it got better...then worse...then better...then worse. Right now it is better, hopefully it won't stiffen up again. I always **** up everything I get
I plan on posting them all in here

I am inspired by this thread to pick up a film camera and do some shooting. I haven't shot a roll of film since around 2001, and it was some cheapo "junior" P&S. I am looking into rangefinders, specifically a GL17 or Electro 35. I don't want to tie up the thread too much from posting pictures, but are there any other good (reasonably priced) rangefinders I could look out for? Thanks!

check out a ql17 or a bessa-r with some kinda screw mount lens. if you want AF try a contax g1, the learning curve is steep but the results are amazing.
i really like contax products and other higher end film cameras...the price have come down (sometimes down 90% or more). take a look around and just take the plunge. its never been a better time to shoot film.
also dont discount point and shoots. its so small that i always have one on me. you lose a lil control but its always there! I also have (reloadable) disposables too for when it rains or snows!

Finally got a couple rolls "scanned", prices are so high locally for scans I wanted to try it using my dslr. Not great but postable hopefully. All taken with an Olympus XA, Ilford Delta 400 and Fuji slide film.

I really like the bar and pickup truck ones
Nothing much to report back with this week for me. A co-worker gave me some very very expired rolls of Kodak Cold that he found in his fridge so I shot a roll with the Bessa R and had it 1 hour photo'd at Walgreens. All 36 frames came out on the negative but only 8 pics made it onto the CD they burned me
There's the possibility of some cool stuff on the rest of the frames so I might have it rescanned somewhere else or scan it myself when I get a scanner.
Bessa R, Jupiter 8, Kodak Gold 200 (expired in 2001/2002)

should be ok. take a risk!!! b&w's have a huge lattitude which means you can be over and under alot and the shot will still be ok. shoot it semi bright and see what happens
im going to gamble on some old slide film. its tough cause +1 EV per decade is the rule but slides are picky with exposure.

shooting with b&w takes some getting used to. i took a pic and realized in black and white that not only that the vivid colors of the scene wouldnt be replicated and how i wish i had portra in my cam but that it was prob the similar in intensity (maybe the wrong word) that it will be merged into one big dark greyish blob.
