Running Rough/Missing when Cold

My standard Mk5 Gti misses and stutters when cold up to 2500rpm until it reaches operating temp of 90 on the gauge.

This problem has been going on for awhile. I have disconnected the battery at one point so I can understand why ive got some of the codes, but the two which I believe are causing the issues are P0441 and P0118.
I suspect the coolant temp sensor has failed confusing the computer when cold and making it run rough until its warmed up but i wasnt sure if the P0441 fault would only have an effect when cold. Is it possibe these two are unrelated but are both issues?
Any help would be great.
Car has 148k on it.

Weird thing is ive reset all these fault codes, drove the car today, still rain poorly, but the faults havent come up again.
Also, i had a CEL come on about a week ago, it was on for about 2 days and then just went away by itself. I didnt have the VAGCOM then so couldnt check what it was.,

Check the battery and alternator. Check for vacuum leaks. Verify temp sensor operation.

Run the readiness script after clearing faults. Does anything return? Do all readiness monitors set?

Check battery and alternator with proper testing equipment.

To run script, clear codes, then 01-ENGINE, READINESS. Then SET READINESS. Follow instructions exactly.

Ignition switch can be monitored in measuring blocks. Wiring diagrams and ground locations can be found in the service manual.

EDIT: I'm with Jack. I missed the faults in 16, skimmed down the scan too fast. Verify ignition switch and grounds.

Stuck or faulty N80

Just took it for a drive running misfire measuring blocks. Cylinder 3 misfired under load and when cold but goes away when hitting boost. I'm
Going with faulty injector?
Will swap cool pack to another cylinder to check though.
Will still replace other valve while engine cover is off thiugh

I bet bad coil pack or plug due to bad ground condition inducing coil pack switch failure.

For evap still N80

Thanks jack. Now I think about it the mis was not near as koi enable after the 120 service when it it new plugs so coil pack it sounds like. Thanks for your help!

There is a TSB and updated electrical portion of your ignition switch part number 1K0 905 865 A.
There are also 2 TSB's for you P0440 fault. Most likely a bad n80 like previously stated. You can take it off and see if it holds vacuum and if theres carbon built up inside it. If it fails basic setting 71 you can clamp the line off in front of the n80 and re-run the test. If it passes N80 is faulty. You ECT freeze frame looks to be reading at -40 C unless im mistaken. That is most likely bad too. I've seen MAF wiring about 10 inches back inside the loom break and fray and the pins at the connector break, may be worth a peak. Heavy carbon on valves may be causing your cold idle issues as well

Whats the best place to find the TSB's? Are they part of the bentley service manuals (im just waiting for mine to arrive still) or just searc online?
The -40C reading when i had it disconnected to see if it was making any difference, thats what i suspect anyway as it hasnt returned since.
Its definitely cylinder 3 missing even after swapping around the coil pack to a different cylinder.
It is still slightly evident too when it has wamred up, but not near as bad.
I will replace the N80 valve etc, but i think the injector on cyliner 3 has packed it up.
The reason i believe this is that when the vehicle is running enrichment map when cold, that injector cant supply/over supplies, but when it does not need to run the car is rich to warm up, the injector doesnt struggle as much.....would this sound logical at all?

I just replaced the N80 valve today and the code still exists and now im not able to to set my readiness. Could the next valve under the inlet manifold be faulty also?

Grounds and wires to coil packs? Verify!

If an intake leak is present, large enough, it will also cause this symptom for the miss, and a serious deviation to cause the ADP limits of the evap test.

A miss from an injector or carbon can also cause this, as idle would be disrupted causing a weak vacuum.

Please also check the cylinder for a wash of rings due to fuel in oil contamination.
( compression check !) ?

Check the rocker arms cam lobes for damage under VC to verify all valves are opening for exhaust and intake.

I got around to replacing the injector and inlet manifold gasket and sea foamed etc as well. Still the same issue unfortunately.

10-4 also never rule out a possible collapsed/melted Catalyst.

Verify those grounds, cant stress more.

When engine is warmed up pistons and rings and metals expand creating different effects in a car. Cold u might have low compression and when hot rings and pistons expanded you might have better compression same goes for all other metal moving parts in your engine. Oil pressure is high when cold and lower when hot.

My symptoms with a weak coil pack were just the opposite- ran fine when cold but misfire at idle and under mid/high boost when warm. New coil packs fixed it for me.

Did you figure out the problem mine is still doing the same I either have a chain tensioner problem or chain stretched, any other input, grounds are good and coil packs changed out from another car. Or exhaust cam adjuster could be bad. I have a slapping noise in the head sounds like a bad valve but that would not explain a random misfire on all cylinders
