Thread: Brake Pad Recommendation?

  1. 06-04-2012 01:17 PM #1
Hey y'all, looks like the odds are I'm going to be in an R32 in a little bit. I will have to replace the pads on the R pretty soon so I am wondering what yalls' recommendations are and or if you guys have some you want to part with.

    THANKS!

    Dan

Generally the OEM pads are prefered by most. They work the best but dust a lot.

That being said I have Porterfield R4-S pads and like them. I don't think they have the initial bite of the OEM's but the low dust is nice.

Search should yield plenty of results. It really depends what you want pads for, daily driving, track, clean wheels, etc.

I liked my OEMs, stopped on a Dime. Switched to HAWK HPS...Initial bite aint quite there, dust less than OEM. I think they performed ok at the Dragon but have yet to do any track days. Fine for Normal Street Driving.

Ive read several times its hard to beat the OEM pagid brake pads. PAGID is OEM among others for Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus or Porsche.

    Carbotech has plenty of compounds.

i just switched to EBC Redstuff pads and so far they are very good.i'm still currently 'breaking them in' ,but they seem quite good at low speed and around town.
they are the lowest dust pads in the EBC product lineup~~if that's a concern.

i loved the OE pads, but damn those things barfed-out some serious dust! i had to clean the wheels every 3 days to keep them looking 'clean' .

x2. The first 1000 miles they were noisy, but now they never make a sound. They also have considerably less brake dust.... However, they are harsh on the rotors.

really? the leaflet that came with the brake pads said the formulation was changed slightly from the earlier version of the Redstuffs(5K series? the ones i bought are labeled 6K series).they're supposed to be less dusty and less abrasive than before.it might just be marketing mumbo-jumbo,i don't know

I have about 1k miles on Yellow Stuff, icluding the Summit Point track day, and love them.
I coupled them with new EBC dimpled and slotted rotors and couldn't be happier.
They definitely don't have the initial bite of stock but are easy to modulate.

    Peace

    They do!

There are several of us in NorCal and SoCal that use their pads particularly for track days. At those track days we get a LOT of questions about the pads that we are running, so the word spread that a ton of .:R32 owners were using this as a preferred track pad and they began discounting the products for us. I don't know if this is still in place or not, but it is/was an awfully nice gesture from the Puskars.

Chris Puskar is also the driver of the #197 Honda Civic SI in the Grand Am series.
