Thread: noob auto-cross supension ?

  1. 06-04-2012 05:07 PM #1
i have been doing a lot of research on coilover suspension and finding a lot of answers. I figured searching what I plan to do with my mark iv would be a better search. however not too many threads came up when i searched "mkiv/mk4 auto cross." i am just looking for insight on a quality system for daily driving with the occassional auto-cross weekend event. I would like to stay under
1k, which it seems that all the known brands are well over that, bistein, h&r, kw, etc.

any insight/advice would be greatly welcomed

If you are new to autocross; 100% stock. What class do you want to run in? What modifications are allowed?

i believe i am in the sts class; the club meets i looking at currently follow scca regulations. there is quite the list to look at. i put a link below of there tech slip.

i figured coils would give me some better handling along with rear 28mm sway due to body roll.

A pure autoX setup isn't very easy to drive on the street. If this is your DD, I would follow greyhare's advice and keep it stock. If you drive the car well - stock - through an autoX course, you may well be surprised by how well it drives n the street.

Make sure you have good tires, and all of you suspension/brakes are in good shape and go for 3 wheels!
