LOL, that director's cut ending was hilarious. Walt clapping. The silly music. Definitely some dark humour there.

The music was from "Curb Your Enthusiasm" - one of the best comedies on television. Starring Larry David who, IMHO, was the brains behind the show "Seinfeld" and was the basis for George's character.

Awesome episode, once again. Walter is really going off the deep end and it's a blast to watch his train wreck of a life spin out of control. He wants to build an empire...so bad a$$. How he cut himself from the zip tie was right out of McGyver's book.

He's the Hannibal Lecter of meth dealer's!

I want to know if he got Skylar pregnant and walked away from the gray matter entity.

Holy crap that was painful. I was cracking up at Jesse drinking out of the water glass and looking around each time it got weirder and weirder.

Amazing episode. One of the best cold opens in the show's history.

Everything is falling off the rails so quickly with basically every single character, it seems like there are 2 episodes left, not 10.

But seriously Mike, tying just one of Walt's hands and leaving his keys on the desk... shame on you.

Shame on AMC for making us wait another year to finish the "season" (Okay, when it's eight episodes one year and eight episodes the following year, that's not a split season; that's two seasons)...I want to see what happens!

The wordless opening this week was so haunting - it was brilliantly put together.

Meh. I would have just used the metal clasp on his watch band to release the tab. It's a friggin zip tie, easy.

      - Josh

If that is a "handcuff" type zip tie it probably uses a metal retainer pin to lock it instead if it being the same material (nylon)... Just a thought.

I think he got turned down by that other chick in Gray Matter and that's why he left. Based on previous seasons it seemed like Walter wanted to be with her but she married Walter's partner instead and he left the business.

I was under the impression that she dumped him AFTER he got Skylar pregnant then ran into the arms of their mutual friend and they ended up letting him buy out his portion of the fledgling business.

Either way I'd like to know more details to their back-story.

I'll echo everything that's been said. The opening was profoundly sad. Really, really good. I'm wondering if Todd holding on to the jar will somehow bite them all in the ass (fingerprints of the kid?)

The dinner conversation was spectacular. "Did you tell him about the affair, too" hahahaha!!

I enjoyed the scene were Walt breaks down his feelings about Grey Matter. His character makes a lot more sense to me now. This started out as a way to make some money before dying of cancer... but at his core, Walter is consumed by greed and regret over his life decisions. Being a teacher, marrying Skylar... he likes being Heizenberg much much more.

Was I the only one rooting against Hank when he was trying to get the cuff off?? I'm starting to really dislike him. Haha

      ...Loved Mike's reaction ...3, 2, 1...

Only two more episodes left this season?

I have to say, I think others who said it earlier in the thread were right... the scene that began this season, will turn out to be the final episode or somewhere thereabouts. Its obvious now, we won't be seeing that for a while.

That tarantula Todd kept has got to play a bigger role in the future. It'll probably lead the DEA to the Walt, Jesse and Mike. Simply unbelievable that Walt would turn down $5M because of his ego. I was rooting for Jesse and Mike all the way. When something's that logical, how could you refuse?

Very curious as to what Walt's new "plan" is going to be. I've been racking my brain trying to figure it out!

His new plan is going to simply be to cook everything and sell the finished goods to the same people that were going to buy the raw Methylamine.

I thought that scene with Todd simply showed how much of a nutcase he was. I mean, his explanation for why he killed the kid made sense, but the way he was looking at that spider and his smirk.... he is plain crazy. I just can't see them keeping a spider in a jar around for a future episode to use as the connection point to the boy and these guys.

As far as Walt declining the money... I initially was thinking to myself, "you're an idiot Walt!", but after his explanation of how he screwed himself out of Gray matter... it all makes sense. $5 million buys a lot of things, but $500 million buys a whole lot more. Especially with all that he has gone through to get to this point. The human brain works in mysterious ways.

I really like this show but sometimes the writers are not very subtle with the foreshadowing. One example is the rug that Ted tripped on. It was so obvious the the first time he tripped on it was a sign of things to come.

I feel the same way with the response that Walt gave Skyler when she asked if he was burying bodies in the desert...."I was robbing a train." That will come back to bite him.

Same with Todd's keepsake from their desert adventure....that will come back too.

BTW, I don't buy Skyler's victim role for a second. She is one of the most manipulative characters in the series. She was something in the works and is just playing out her chess match.

The writers have done an amazing job of character development. All the characters I hated in the first couple seasons are my favorites now, except for Mike. He has always been the man but I guess we will see where the writers take us with him.

How Walt has changed....remember when he made the +/- list when he was trying to figure out if he was going to kill the guy bike locked in the basement?

This episode was very much needed. The first 5 episodes of this season (even starting last season) didn't even remotely explain Walt's motivations where they were very clear beforehand.

It's interesting being a fan this season - the acting/storylines/cinematography/music are better than ever, but I now dislike the show in a way because I dislike Walt. Gilligan isn't taking the easy way out where you root for the POS main character (Sopranos, Mad Men, etc.) - he's making us hate him as much as Skylar does.

Great, related article from the New Yorker:

That was a good article and right on the money. Walt's transformation over the seasons is indeed interesting. I remember rooting for him vehemently when he started picking up his confidence and going after the bad guys. He became a bad ass that you wanted to root for. Then the progression kept going and going and now he's at the other extreme where he's in his own world and the voice of reason (our voice of reason) just can't relate to him anymore. Now, I find myself rooting for Jesse and Mike! And let's not forget Hank. As a viewer, with Jesse & Mike on the side of the villains, I don't find myself rooting for Hank just yet. If it comes down to a 1-on-1 between Hank and Walt though, I got my money on Hank for the win.

So why was the car wash closed? What was going on there? Were they storing the chemicals there?

      Another great episode.
